Lots of Cesc Nonsense and Some Senna Rumours

Spain's Pepe Reina (L) embraces team-mate Cesc Fabregas as they celebrate their World Cup 2010 victory on a stage in Madrid, July 12, 2010. Spain stunned the Netherlands to win their first World Cup on Sunday in sensational fashion with a goal in the last minutes of extra time. REUTERS/Juan Medina (SPAIN - Tags: SPORT SOCCER WORLD CUP)

Cesc Fabregas story refuses to die and most probably it will do regular rounds till the transfer market is closed. Everyone expected the lid to be closed after Iniesta remarked that "Cesc will continue with Arsenal". Suddenly Mundodeportivo has unearthed a secret agreement, which has put Wikileaks this week revelations to shame. According to them the agreement has already reached and will see Cesc moving into Barca very soon and they already have said which numer he will be weraing at barca - the Guardiola "4". Trying to make sense out of this latest revelation would be futile as there is only one word to describe this - RUBBISH. Barca management has recently started to acknowledge the fact that this deal is not going to happen this season. Many big players have already commented about Arsenal's reluctance to come to negotiating deal. So this deal remains as "Dead as Buried".

In all these nonsense, some good news have emerged. The biggest is linking Marcos Senna to the club. At 34, he may be a risky buy but still he looks the most optimum solution to the defensive midfielder problem. His experience is going to aid Barca if this deal go through. The player has expressed his interest but has also acknowldeged that there has not been any approach from Barca's side. Another rumour that is doing the rounds is that Guardiola will buy another midfielder and Oezil or Mata are the prime target. That's sound good news but the only problem is that I just read an article which said that Oezil is very close to a verbal agreement with Madrid. Meanwhile Barca's young guns are giving a great account of themselves at the Euro Under 19 Championship. Half of the side always feature Barca players.

Video: Raul Farewell as he Leaves Real Madrid

One of the Legends in the game of football Raul has bid Farewell to his club which is very close to his heart. His name will be among the very best in football of his age, with the likes of Zidane, Ronlado, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and ofcource David Beckham he will be remebered as the greatest Real Madrid Player in the Recent history. He has been at the club since he was just 17, when he joined Real madrid from Atletico and like the say Rest was history.

On monday he bid farewell to his club Real Madrid and will be playing football in some other country which probably be Germany as he said that
he had very deep talks with FC Schalke and might be at the helm of the German Club.
While he did not completely ruled out a move to some English Club Saying
England is another option for him

The pay per view event in the WWE calender is Money in the back which will held on 18 july 2010 Sunday. Who will retrieve the suitcase which hung 20 ft above the ring because that could well tell us about the WWE title. This year this event gonna be one hell of PPV, as Loads of stars would want to win this event and get the opportunity to have a shot and World heavyweight Championship.

Remember what edge did last year as he had the money in the bank title and he used it to full effect when he setup a match with john Cena who just finished a match shortly before that and eventually lost the belt to edge. So that kind of stuff might happen again that is why this event has become very interesting to watch.

Adriano Correia Signs For Barca

FC Barcelona has completed the signing of Adriano Correia from Sevilla for 9.5 Million Euros. There is an additional 4 Million Euros that has to be paid to Sevillas depending on a variety of objectives. Adriano signed the deal which will keep him at the club for four year today and will be presented as a Barca player on Monday. This is the second signing done by Barca this season and looks like a very wise choice. This guy can play as both left back and right back and also if needed as a winger in midfield. The buyout clause for Adriano is set at 90 Million Euros.

All Blacks vs Springboks Highlights Tri Nations 2010

After getting hammered in the first test of the 2010 Tri nations, South African rugby team will be taking on New Zealand at Wellington on 17 July 2010. It was a very unexpected result as New Zealand won the match against more powerfull and more experinced Rugby team and were widely expected to win both of their games against rivals All black but it was not be. As New Zealand took full advantage of Home ground and crowd and had their opposition under pressure for the whole game.

Now Springboks will be looking to put up a good showing against very unpredictable team and get on level terms before they go to Australia for more test matches. I will be placing live streaming links of the match here, so pleas bookmark the page and comeback before the match gets underway.

Video: Muralitharan 800 wicket vs India

One of the greatest crickter who will hang up his boots after this This Test match, Muralithara needed two wickets going into the last days play against india and he was stuck to 799 wickets in his career as there was the last batsman to go. His Bowling was not as it was used to but he kept going and guess what persistance payed off as after 23 wicketless overs he managed to grab the 800 wicket of his career. What a way to end one glorious cricket career. Surely no one can take that record away from him.

Muttiah Muralitharan takes his 800 Wicket, What a Legend !
The long wait only highlighted the precious toil that went into the preceding 799. What a legend. It was a script that flirted with romance and the fictional. Lasith Malinga nearly didn't let Murali get to 800. Then the Indian tail refused to relent. I will be placing the video of him taking the 800 wicket here shortly.

Here is the video:

Who is Responsible for the Zlatan Debacle?

Apr. 21, 2010 - 05798827 date 20 04 2010 Copyright imago Sesa Zlatan Ibrahimovic DEL Barcellona Milano 20 4 2010 Stadio Giuseppe Meazza Inter Barcellona Champions League 2009 2010 Photo Bibi Inside photo PUBLICATIONxNOTxINxITAxFRA Bibi Football men Champions League EC 1 2009 2010 Milan Portrait Vdig xkg 2010 horizontal premiumd.

The jury is still out on whether Zlatan Ibrahimovic was a success last season. With 21 goals and 10 assist, anywhere else in the World Ibrahimovic would have been celebrated as a huge success. But when you have a price tag of 70 Million, the highest in the club's history, may be those figures are not simply good enough. The stats are pretty good when you compare with other strikers all over the planet, but still Ibra cannot be termed anywhere near as a success. Especially when a previously discarded( by Guardiola) kid, Bojan Krkic manages to replace you easily at the most crucial juncture of the season. Maybe the ridiculous prize tag associated with him is the one acting heavily against him, something I highlighted in an earlier post - Bojan Krkic Could Be the Key. But when the newly appointed financial Vice-President, rightly questions the amount spent in acquiring the star, you have to be in trouble. Suddenly the Barcelona based media houses Sport and El Mundo Deportivo both are raising the same question. Kind of strange, ain't it? About an year ago the same media houses were bringing out crazy statistics to justify the amount paid for the Swede!!! At that time also I clearly thought that Laporta has Gone Crazy agreeing for such a deal.

Then why the hell did Laporta enter into such a crazy deal, especially giving away one of the most successful striker to Inter? The answer lies in the question itself, isn't it? The entire deal was done not to add an additional strikeforce to Barca but to get rid of FC Barcelona's then present strike force - Samuel Eto'o. If you remember just before the Ibra - Eto'o deal happened, Barca management were involved in a deal to sign David Villa. Barca were ready to fish out 40 Million but Valencia were asking 10 Million more and the deal broke off. But in truth, the deal broke off because the management couldn't find a possible exit route for Eto'o. I mean if you can pay 46 Million for Ibra, then why can't you add a 4 Million and buy Villa, who had a better chance to gel well with Iniesta and Xavi (as they were all national team mates).

At that point Inter entered the fray, who got a decent striker and 46 Million in the end of the deal. With that money they went and brought three players - Sneijder, Milito and Lucio, all crucial in their treble achieving season. So in a nutshell, this has to be the most ridiculous deal ever done by Joan Laporta. But can we blame him alone for this? What is the part of the the coach Pep Guardiola in all these? It was no secret that Eto'o was never a part in Guardiola's scheme of things. He remained in Barcelona, because we couldn't find a club who was willing to buy him. He then played the most important part in winning the historic treble. No one will ever forget that early goal against Manchester United in Rome. But still Guardiola wanted him to be out of the team and Inter presented the only escape route. ok, Manchester City was interested in buying Eto'o but the chances of him leaving to a place where there is no chance of playing Champions League was little. So we paid definitely for the stubbornness of Guardiola more than the foolishness of Laporta.

Rosell and his company may argue that Laporta could have said a definite no. But is it practically possible, especially to a guy who oversaw the most brilliant season in the club's history. Moreover you never want to end up with a scenario where one of the major player and Coach does not trust each other. Eventhough Eto'o wanted to stay, Guardiola had already made up his mind at the start of his tenure itself. So Laporta had his hands tied and Inter Milan had the upper hand througout negotiating the deal. It is no secret that following Villa deal, the management is trying their best to find a suitor for Ibrahimovic. We bought him for 46 Million of solid cash, let's say that we are ready to take Chygyrinskiy loss (i.e 10 Million), but still the price will be 36 Million. I am not sure any club will match that at this moment. So it makes more sense to keep him here, oh I forgot his salary is just below Messi at Barca. Ibrahimovic may still turn out to be the player who Guardiola hoped when he was signed. But signing him saying that he offered more aerial threat was quite foolish, you just had to watch the Man U vs Inter match to confirm that.

But the biggest question at this moment is - Are we reapeating the whole saga again with the Cesc Fabregas pursuit? Fabregas should integrate easily into the team, but do we really need him. Especially amidts all the financial problems facing the club,as explained by both Rosell and Javier Faus. But it is becoming pretty clear that Rosell has been blowing up the financial problem for sometime. During his campaign he constantly stated that the club's debts are in excess of 400 Million. Now if we trust what Javier Faus said, then the real debt is 210 Million(much smaller when compared to some other clubs), something which the Laporta administration also said previously. I have to admit that Rosell's financial knowledge baffles me, I have no idea of how to manage finances. But still. Last week he said we had to raise 150 Million in credit line from banks to pay salaries, now his VP says we have 50 Million for transfers. I mean if we have to take a 150 Million loan to run the club normally, from where did this money came from. Chygrinskiy and Toure transfer would have given us 40 Million, but when you say you don't have money to pay wages, that money should have already finished, right? Don't you think there is so much hidden behind all these? I don't have a clue. But in all these, wouldn't it be wiser to stop chasing Cesc. Let's assume we manage to sign Fabregas for 40 Million (just imagine), we still need money to buy a holding midfielder and a left sided attacking player. And they say we don't have the cash. Is Rosell attempting to do a Laporta here? Atleast laporta had no choice last season!

Iniesta's Boot Raises 100,000 Euros

Football - Chelsea v FC Barcelona UEFA Champions League Semi Final Second Leg - Stamford Bridge, London, England - 6/5/09..Andres Iniesta Photo via Newscom

The boot with which Iniesta scored his famous goal at Stamford Bridge has raised 100,000 Euros for the treatment of Javier, a child with Cerebral Palsy. The funds were raised via a Lottery held by the Javier's family, but now its been learned that the winner has not yet claimed his/her's prize. The winning ticket was sold in Hellín, a town and municipality located in the south of the province of Albacete, in Castile-La Mancha, Spain. The lottery was held on the 18th of November. Javier's aunt contacted Iniesta's family to return the boot, but they informed her that they can continue to give the boot out. Now with the winner not coming forward to claim their coveted prize, the family have the option of auctioning the boots. With Iniesta's fame skyrocketing following his World Cup winner, this could be the ideal time to auction the boots and raise money.

Javier's family have to travel to Philadelphia every March and August to receive personalized therapy. Each trip is expected to cost 10,000 Euros. Javier's aunt, Encarna Pérez Martínez has spent years raising money to help her nephew and his parents travel to Philadelphia twice a year. She send a poster(of Iniesta's famous goal) and a Barça shirt that she had bought to the star's family in the hope that he would sign them. Her idea was to conduct a lottery to raise the money for next session of therapy and was overwhelmed to discover that when they were returned to her duly signed by the Barça star, also included in the parcel were the very boots Iniesta was wearing when he scored against Chelsea in the Champions League semi-finals this year. 'A member of Iniesta's family had told me that there was another surprise in the parcel which could be used for another raffle, so I expected a signed ball or something like that,' said Encarna. 'But when we opened the parcel and found the boots we were overwhelmed. We are so grateful,' she added.

Video: All Van Nistelrooy Goals in Champions League

One of the greatest Strikers of all time, specially when it comes to scoring goals he is up there with the very best. He is second only to Raul in terms of Champions League goal record though he played far less games than Raul and some of the other competitor strikers, likes of Inzaghi and Shevchenko. He has banging goals in with what ever team he played for. He started out his Champions League career with the native dutch team PSV Eindhoven and he scored 9 goals in the Europe's premium compition before he joined Mighty Manchester United in 2001 season.

At United he became the greatest goal scorer in the history of the club as he scored more Champions League goal than anybody else in the United history surpasing legendry figure of Denis Law. He scored total of 39 goals for the reds in the Champions League over the career of 5 years with them. He was sold to Real madrid after that and although he was struggling with injuries but goals just kept coming. He scored another 16 Champions League goals with them and is only 4 goals behind Raul in all time top list. Which he might not be able to go pass.

Anyway, Here is the Video of all the goals he scored so far in the UEFA Premier Compitition, sit back and enjoy one of the lethal of finishers we have seen in modern football.

FC Barcelona have confirmed that they have released Thierry henry for Free. Thierry Henry will be now signing for Ney York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer on Thursday. Earlier Henry has placed a request to Barca management to release him for free. FC Barcelona signed the French maestro for 24 Million Euros in 2007. Eventhough his first season was rather dissappointing, he played a huge part in the all conquering season of 2008-09. Henry made the switch from Arsenal to Barcelona to fulfil his dream of winning the Champions league. He leaves the club with the satisfaction of fulfilling his dream and also getting involved in the historic 6-2 defeat of Real Madrid at Bernebeu. That match was his best performance on a Blaugrana jersey.

Meanwhile Pep Guardiola has extended his contract by one more year as expected.

Arsenal Fans should Stop Blaming Barca

July 11, 2010 - South Africa - Football - Holland v Spain FIFA World Cup Final - South Africa 2010 - Soccer City Stadium, Johannesburg, South Africa - 11/7/10..Spain's (L-R) Carles Puyol , Cesc Fabregas and Gerard Pique celebrate after winning the World Cup.

From the moment the Cesc Fabregas transfer saga started, there have been various counter accusations from both Arsenal and Barcelona fans. Blogs are the medium of communication in the modern world and promptly became the battle ground between Gunner and Cules. I believe the whole story started with Guillem Balague writing about a meeting that has taken place between Fabregas and Arsene Wenger He reported that Fabregas requested Wenger to allow him to move to Barca. Now it turns out that the whole story was purely fiction, I mean it looks like Fabregas and Wenger were in two different places at the supposed date of the meeting. But still no clarification has been offered by Arsenal about the meeting. Meanwhile Barca management under Laporta ponced upon the rumour and potrayed a picture via rumours that the transfer is imminent. After the initial reluctance to comment(which they shouldn't have), Arsenal and Wenger came out declaring unilaterally that "Cesc was not up for Sale".

Laporta has gone since then but the new man Rosell also looks to have made it a priority of signing Fabregas. Since the time Guillem Balague reported about the now non-existent meeting, Barca and Gunners fans have been at loggerheads. One can understand the paranoia of the Arsenal fans as they were bombarded with the news that their Captain was on their way out. Not only the Spanish media but the English one also went overboard reporting the transfer rumours. But at times and now at all times, it has become into a full fledged hatred to anything represented by the Spanish Champions. At times you are left wondering about the nonsense views they are bringing out simply because of Barca's pursuit of Fabregas. I myself does not approve of this stupid chase, as I wrote in my last post - Barca Losing the Bigger Picture in Cesc Chase. But having said that I clearly oppose many views expressed by Arsenal fans in recent times. I am trying to aggregate what I felt about those views.

1) If Somebody has to take the blame, then it has to be Fabregas
This is something which always annoyed me while visiting an Arsenal blog. Every Gunner fans puts the blame squarely on the Barca management. But Fabregas is the biggest culprit here. He could have silenced everyone by making a clear cut statement regarding his stay at Arsenal. His statement always is pretty vague and you can define those the way you want. Following the recent nonsense prank of being forced into a Barca shirt, he down played the incident but gave a statement like this about his transfer saga - "I think now the less said about the subject the better, because these things are worse for everyone when they come to light and people talk more about the matter. Right now we have to be very calm and what will be will be." Now what is that? I mean what should one get out of the "what will be will be" statement. Barca management is going to see that as an encouragement to pursue him further. Can't he just say that he is an Arsenal player and will remain so for atleast one more year. The case will close at that moment. Arsenal fans and club would do themselves a favour by trying to understand what is preventing him from issuing such a statement.

2) Fabregas is a player produced by Arsenal and the Barca DNA thing is crap
This always have been another bone of contention between Barca and Arsenal fans. Arsenal fans always considered him as the one whom they developed, whereas Barca fans have a different point of view. Fabregas made a choice to move away from FC Barcelona as there were serious doubts about playing time at Barca. Lionel Messi was earmarked to bigger greatness than Fabregas and it was clear that Cesc has to wait for his oppurtunity. Fabregas developed into the great player he is at Arsenal under the wings of Wenger. But that doesn't give any Arsenal fans the right to ridicule the value of work done at Barca academy. Don't say to me that - Wenger found this kid in the streets of La Rambla and felt pity on him and took to Arsenal. He was higlighted as the next big thing after Messi in the Barca academy. So the Barca DNA thing, eventhough it might be a bit overrated is not crap. Having said that I am not hiding away from the fact that Arsenal played a vital role in his development into a class player. So the idea that he should be loyal to Arsenal does not sell, but loyalty to his job definitely is something they can ask.

3) Barca Players are Overrated, now this is what I call nonsense
A recent visit to any of the Arsenal blog's comment section would give a clear picture of how the Arsenal fans consider our players as a bunch of overrated players. The most funny comment I saw went something like this - "Once the new kids from Arsenal academy emerge in the next year, they will piss on Messi, Xavi and Iniesta". How true!!!!!!!! What can you call these kinds of statements. Lionel Messi is way ahead of his peers at the age of 23, but the idea that he is nowhere near Samir Nasiri, Walcott and Vela is something that I can't digest. May be I am badly in need of a different perspective. Messi has been constantly compared to the great legends who played before him so considering him as crap is undefinable. Arsenal fans may have some reason to be upset by Xavi as he has been the most vocal in demanding the transfer of Cesc. But that cannot be used to justify ridiculing his talent and his role in both Barca and Spanish team. He is the heart of both the teams. So is Iniesta. Arsenal fans who ridicule Iniesta tend to forget that Fabregas was Aragones' first choice earlier. Iniesta slowly made it into the starting line-up and haven't given up on that since then. He offers complete unpredictability in that midfield. The simple fact that Fabregas has failed to displace either Iniesta or Xavi from Spain's national team definitely gives you the answer. Maybe Aragones and Del Bosque both are fools. The hatred to a club cannot be justified for expressing real stupid views.

4) Fabregas was the reason why Spain won
This is another one. It is completely understandable that we all rejoice and highlight the contribution of our favourite players. Every fan is biased and I am also no exception. That is the reason you would see more of Iniesta's and Xavi's contribution in my World Cup report and less of Casillas and Ramos'. Fabregas played an important role in the final creating the goal which Iniesta finished. Arsenal fans were also quick to point out a gold gilted chance created for Iniesta which he squandered. But surprisingly there is no mention of that wonderful throughball which put Fabregas through on goal. Iniesta has been the most consistent Spanish player in whole of the tournament and had a direct contribution in majority of the goals scored. Xavi who was not upto the mark in the earlier matches played really well in both semi-final and Final. So claiming that Fabregas was the real reason for the triump is way overrated. I would have accepeted if he had come in for any of them and then created the goal. But the fact that Fabregas combined well with both Iniesta and Xavi should give Arsenal fans some trouble.

There is no doubt that this transfer nonsense has been dragging for more than what was needed. Everyone knows the end result of this. It is crystal clear that Fabregas is not leaving Arsenal this time around. But it looks like Barca will continue this as a ground work to signing him next year. Whether we need him or not, is another matter altogether. Until and unless Arsenal ask Fabregas to issue a definitive statement this issue is going to continue worsening the relationship between both the clubs. Already Arsenal fans are hoping for Real Madrid coach extracting revenge on Barca on their behalf. Quite Strange to see many Arsenal fans praying for Jose Mourinho's success, am not sure that they are praying that much for their club's success(just kidding).
