Huge boost for Liverpool fans !

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has today ruled out an exit from the club "for many years".

The Spanish international joined The Reds last Summerfor a little over £20 million and has been an instant hit with the fans, bagging over 30 goals in his first season at the club. Thus breaking the record for most goals in a first season from an overseas player.

However in the last few weeks "El Nino" has been linked with a £50 million move to either Barcelona or Chelsea. The Liverpool number 9 set the record straight today when he said,"It is an honour to be linked to clubs like Barcelona, Chelsea, or Arsenal - but I am not thinking about a change and I want to continue playing for Liverpool for many years to come."

"I have been part of a team where every player shares the same goals and where a player can rely on the support of his team-mates. I have also worked with a manager who believed in me. It was the combination of all these factors."

Spurs close in on defensive duo !

Tottenham are supposedly closing in on the signing of Richard Dunne from Man City and are also hoping to sign Anton Ferdinand this Summer according to reports in the Daily Mirror today.

Dunne who has been linked with Spurs for several weeks now is thought to be very close to signing at White Hart Lane. The Irish international rejected another contract offer from the club. Dunne's contract at City runs out next summer and it is now thought that City will cash in on their captain before he can leave for free.

The Londoners are also thought to be interested in out of favour West Ham centre half Anton Ferdinand. The club were heavily linked with the 23 year old last season, however their interest has decreased in conjunction with his playing time. Although, he would still offer great cover for the likes of Dunne, Woodgate and King.

Spurs look to wrap up £5 million defender within weeks

Tottenham are closing on the signing of Manchester City defender Richard Dunne after the player rejected another contract offer from the club. Dunne's contract at City runs out next summer and it is now thought that City will cash in on their captain before he can leave for free.

Dunne, 28, has been at City for over eight years now since his move from fellow Premier League side Everton. He has matured into one of the Premier League's best defenders after a difficult spell on and off the field a few years ago.

It is believed that Spurs will offer City £5 million for Dunne's services and that is likely to be accepted. This could nad probably will lead to a mass exodus from the City of Manchester Stadium after weeks of uncertainty about the manager, Sven Goran Eriksson's future at the club.

As a City fan myself, I will be gutted when Dunne finally leaves. He has simply been superb for us over the years and not one City fan would argue that point. I would be surprised if Spurs don't face some compeition for the player, between now and when the summer transfer window opens.

Gunners target £8 million Championship star

Arsenal are preparing a £8 million move for Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hannessy in order to replace the outgoing Jens Lehman. Arsene Wenger has apparently been impressed with Hennessy at both club and national level this season and is ready to bring him to the Emirates.

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is keen to hold onto the Welsh international but it is thought that Hennessy would be attracted by the Premier League giants. The 21-year old kept 19 clean sheets this season, as Wolves narrowly missed out on the play-offs.

I personally think Hennessy is a magnificent keeper and I do feel he would be capable of playing at the Emirates. I also feel that Arsenal won't be the only club interested and there has been rumours that Everton, Newcastle and Middlesbrough are also interested in the player.

Inter move for £20 million-rated Spurs target !

Inter could make a move for Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o this Summer in what could be a part exchange deal with Zlatan Ibrahimovic according to reports on Sky Sports today.

Eto'o, 27, joined Barca in 2004 from Real Mallorca and has since made 108 appearances for the La Liga side netting an incredible 77 times in the process. However, after a falling out with former manager Frank Rijkaard and a few seasons riddled with injuries Eto'o has lost a bit of the spark which saw him win the African Player of the Year three years running.

Ibrahimovic on the other hand is still doing well for his club side of Inter Milan. Although he has been linked with a move away from the San Siro in recent weeks after rumours have spread about both Eto'o and Didier Drogba joining the Serie A Champions. Who knows what plans Mourinho has, presuming he takes the reigns at Inter?

Liverpool challenge Gunners for £12 million midfielder

Liverpool have today emerged as Arsenal's strongest challengers for the signing of Portsmouth midfielder Niko Kranjcar. The Croatian has impressed immensely this season at Fratton Park playing a major role in the sides FA Cup success.

Kranjcar has been linked with a move to Arsenal for some time now as Arsene Wenger looks to strengthen his midfield options with the departure of Mattheiu Flamini and the possible departure of Alexander Hleb.

It now appears as though Rafa Benitez, who is also keen to bolster his midfield options, is targeting Kranjcar. It is likely that both clubs will bid around the £12 million mark for the player. I personally think Kranjcar should spend one more season at Pompey and then maybe move onto Liverpool or Arsenal.

Everton and Liverpool go head-to-head for £10 million England ace

Liverpool and Everton are to go head-to-head for the signature of Manchester City midfielder Michael Johnson. Both clubs are ready to bid £10 million for the England under-21 international.

Johnson, 20, has impressed at both club and international level this season, so much so that David Moyes and Rafa benitez are ready to start a bidding war for the player. It is likely that City will do everything they can to hold onto the promising youngster but with all the unrest at the club, Johnson may be tempted to leave.

As a City fan myself, I must say I would be distraught to see Johnson leave. He is without doubt one of, if not the most promising player at the club at the moment and to see him go would be unthinkable. I think Everton and Liverpool will have to up their bids to have any chance of signing the player.

Liverpool's bid of £9 million for La Liga target is £10 million short

Liverpool's opening bid of £9 million for Espanyol midfielder Albert Riera has been rejected and the Spanish club have now set Liverpool a price of £19 million for Riera.

Riera, 26, has been linked with a move to Liverpool for several weeks now as it has become clear that Rafa Benitez is keen to add a winger to the Liverpool ranks. Riera has previous Premier League experience with Manchester City where he spent one season on loan.

The Spanish international previously stated his desire to leave Espanyol, much to the annoyance of the club's president Daniel Sanchez Libre : "We are very disappointed with the quotes made by the player last week,". "If a player wants to leave then they should speak with the club, not the press. "If a club wants to sign Riera then the price will be 24million euros (£19million), and that figure will not change."

I personally didn't think much of Riera when he was at City. I simply thought he was mediocre. I feel £19 million is a huge amount for Espanyol to ask Liverpool and I don't envisage Benitez splashing that much on a player that is yet to prove himself at the highest level.

Liverpool set to up bid for £19 million Spanish international !

Liverpool have had a bid rejected for Spanish international Albert Riera according to reports on Sky Sports today.
The midfielder who is currently playing for Espanyol has been linked with the Merseysiders since the January transfer window. Reports emerged today that Liverpool had a bid turned town by the La Liga outfit consisting of a part exchange deal with Sebastian Leto and £9.5 million.

The Espanyol President said earlier this week in an interview, "If a club wants to sign Riera then the price will be £19 million, and that figure will not change.". Riera made very suspect comments during the week putting doubts over his future at the club.

The Espanyol President added,
"We are very disappointed with the quotes made by the player last week... If a player wants to leave then they should speak with the club, not the press."

Liverpool and Gunners stuck in bidding war for £8 million rated midfielder !

Liverpool and Arsenal have both had bids of £5 million rejected for Cardiff City midfielder Aaron Ramsey according to reports in the Guardian today.

The Welsh U21 international has been a much sought after player in the last few months with Man United, Arsenal and Liverpool all thought to have declared interest in the youngster. Reports have emerged today stating that Liverpool and Arsenal have bids of £5 million rejected for the 17 year old.

It looks as though both clubs will have to try outbid each other in what could reach about an £8 million transfer fee from either club. However after seeing him play on several occasions, £8 million looks like a sound investment.

Arsenal and Spurs battle it out for French ace

Arsenal and Tottenham are to battle it out for the signature of SM Caen striker Yoan Gouffran. The player is more than likely to leave the club this summer after admitting he wanted to play European football. (Sun Quest)

The Frenh under-21 international was a key part of the Caen team that earned promotion from Ligue 2 side, in which he was named player of the season. Juande Ramos and Arsene Wenger are both very keen on bringing Gouffran to the Premier League but it is also thought several French teams are also interested.

A source close to Gouffran said: "Yoan took note of the willingness of Bordeaux. There are other clubs that have also made proposals. He will study them all and decide without rushing into anything.

I have only seen video clips of Gouffran but I must say he looks a real prospect. He is only 22-years old and there is no doubt he has big future ahead of him, but where that lies, nobody really knows. I personally hope he opts for a move to England, simply because I would see more of the player.

Celtic close on former Liverpool winger

Celtic are closing on the signing for former Liverpool midfielder Harry Kewell. The Australian international has been linked with a whole host of clubs in recent weeks following his departure from the club in May. (Press Association)

Kewell, 29, made just over a half-dozen appearances for Liverpool last season, struggling to show anything like his form from his days at Leeds which provoked Liverpool to spend £5 million on him.

It is thought now that Celtic boss Gordon Strachan is keen to bring Harry Kewell to Celtic Park as soon as possible. I personally think Kewell is finished and he should go back to Australia and maybe play in the A-League. It may turn out to be a good move for Celtic, but I just can't see it.

Spurs to offer Robinson for England youth keeper

Tottenham are today ready to offer Manchester City, Paul Robinson for Joe Hart. Robinson has struggled in recent months to stay in the Spurs first team whilst Joe Hart is starting to shape himself into a terrific young goalkeeper. (Daily Star)

It is thought that Spurs boss Juande Ramos will offer a straight swap with Robinson heading to Eastlands and Hart moving down to White Hart Lane. Hart, 21, was recently called up to the England squad after impressing in the under-21's.

Meanwhile, Robinson has been overlooked by keepers such as Peterbrough's Joe Lewis in recent months as he struggles to get back in the England set-up. I personally think Spurs are nuts if they think City will accept this offer. Joe Hart is on the up, whilst Robinson is simply going nowhere.

Liverpool midfielder set for loan spell away from Anfield !

Liverpool reserve star Adam Hammill looks set to go out on loan again next season according to reports on SkySports.com.
The 20 year old spent last season on loan at Soputhampton, however it was a rather unsuccessful spell in his career as he failed to make a huge impact down at St Marys. It is thought that Liverpool are trying to offload him on loan this season too, and even with his slightly below par time at Southampton, he still has a great reputation from his time in the Liverpool youth system.

Rafa Benitez' reluctance to let the winger go on a permanent basis clearly shows that he sees some raw talent in Hammill and that he could still be a Reds star in the future. A season in the Championship should do the youngster some good and let's hope he comes back with more experience and confidence.

Chelsea target £15 million Dutch ace

Chelsea are preparing a £15 million bid for SV Hamburg playmaker Rafael Van Der Vaart. The Dutch international has rejected several new contract offers from the Bundesliga club fuelling speculation of an exit.

Van Der Vaart, 25, moved to Hamburg back in 2005 amid intense speculation that he was set for a move to the Premier League. He also been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid in recent months as it becomes more and more likely that he will leave Hamburg this summer.

Former Chelsea boss Avram Grant was said to be interested in signing Van Der Vaart before his sacking last week. It is likely that Chelsea will have to pay at least £15 million for Van Der Vaart and in my view that would be a terrific bit of business for the London club.

Gunners line up replacement, as Barca join Madrid in race for Hleb !

Barcelona have joined Real Madrid in the race to sign Arsenal's Alexander Hleb according to reports on Sky Sports earlier today.
The 27 year old joined The Gunners in 2005 from Stuttgart and has since been a first team regular making 89 appearances and bagging seven goals in the process. However it appears as though he will be making a move away from the Emirates this Summer, with Real Madrid and now Barcelona ready to snap up the Belarusian.

Arsenal had quite an understrength squad last year which slightly lacked in experience, and now that they have already lost Mathieu Flamini, it is clear that Arsene Wenger will have to bring in a few players in that position.

Samir Nasri has been heavily linked with a move to the London club after impressing both internationally for France and on the European stage for Marseille. It is thought that he could complete a £12 million move in the next few weeks.

Arsenal target open to move to England

Arsenal target Alberto Aquilani has today admitted a move to England would excite him. The AS Roma midfielder is set for showdown talks with the club about his future in the coming days.

The Italian international is likely to figure in Italy's Euro 2008 squad so a deal may have to wait a while to be done unless Arsenal can push through a deal before the competition starts in two weeks. The 23-year old is likely to cost Arsenal at least £15 million.

Arsene Wenger apparently sees Aquilani as a perfect replacement for the the exit bound Alexander Hleb. I personally think Aquilani would be a terrific addition to an Arsenal squad that definitely needs improving to challenge for the title next year. Aquilani is a terrific passer of the ball and he could provide terrific ammunition for Emmanuel Adebayor.

Spurs open talks with potential Robinson replacement !

Tottenham are about to open talks with Nice goalkeeper Hugo Lloris according to reports on Sky Sports today.

The 21 year old joined the French outfit in 2005 permanently after coming up through their youth squads. He is a much desired player in Europe with Spurs, Milan and Lyon all looking to snatch up the Frenchman this Summer.

In an interview with L'Equipe the shot stopper said,"And Tottenham, they have a great project for the future with a very successful manager". However he is "not closing the door to anyone," he revealed. It would be a huge boost for Spurs to snatch up Lloris especially after the departure of Radek Cerny a few weeks ago.

Spurs pursue £12 million Spanish midfielder

Tottenham are pursuing Sevilla midfielder Diego Capel as they look to build a squad to challenge for Champions League qualification next season. The 20-year old has impressed whilst playing with the La Liga giants this season, so much so that Juande Ramos is prepared to make a £12 million bid for him.

Capel has been strongly linked with several other moves to the Premier league with Spurs' North London rivals Arsenal also said to be interested. Ramos has previously worked with Capel during his time with Sevilla and it is now thought that Ramos is keen to reignite their relationship.

I have seen Capel on several occasions in recent months and I must say I have been impressed. He has possess a terrific left-foot and he has pace to burn. I think £12 million is a fair price for the Spanish under-20 international.

Terry looks to put Moscow misery behind him as he captains England

John Terry will look to put the misery of last week's Champions League final behind him tonight as he leads out England for their friendly against USA. The Chelsea defender is to captain England tongiht as they look to give Fabio Capello his second win at Wembley.

As most of you will alreayd know Terry missed a penalty in last weeks shoot-out which would of handed Chelsea their first ever Champions League success. Although John Terry was England's captain before Capello took over, it is not yet clear wheter or not he will be named permanent captain for England.

Liverpool's Steven Gerrard and Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand are his main rivals for the armband. Both have been given chances to captain England in their previous two games against Switzerland and France respectively. I personally think Terry is the best man to lead England into a new era under Capello. His leadership skills are without doubt, one of, if not the best in Europe and I feel England would benefit greatly from having him as captain.

Juve close on £14 million Liverpool midfielder

Juventus are closing on the signing of Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, accoridng to Juve president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli. Alonso, 26, is said to be close to completing a £14 million to the Serie A giants. The Spanish international has found it hard to keep his place in the Liverpool first team this season after losing his place to Javier Mascherano.

Alonso has spent four successful years at Anfield, winning the Champions League in 2005 and the FA Cup in 2006.
"It looks like his representative will arrive today," said Gigli when asked about the possible signing of Alonso. "We can't deny that we're interested, but there's always the problem of getting value for money. "(Managing director Jean-Claude) Blanc is working on this and on other possibilities."

I personally will be sad to see Alonso go if he does indeed join Juve. He has been a terrific player for Liverpool in recent years and I am sure every Liverpool fan will be grateful for what he has done for the club.

Arsenal and Spurs strikers top Barca wish-list

Barcelona are preparing a move for Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor but have also targeted Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov as a plan b. (El Mundo Deportivo)

Adebayor, 24, was undoubtedly one of the Gunners players of the season, scoring 24 league goals. This has attracted the interest of Barca who are looking for a top striker to replace the possible outgoing Samuel Eto'o.

They have also made plans to sign Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov who is more than likely to leave White Hart Lane this summer. The Bulgarian international is also wanted by Barca's rivals Real Madrid.

I personally think Barca will sign Berbatov out of the two, simply because I don't think Arsene Wenger will let Adebayor go. I feel Berbatov could turn out to be a terrific signing for Barca, although if he starts to sulk like he kind of did at Spurs, it may not be such a good signing.

Man Utd star puts Liverpool, Arsenal, Real, Barca and Milan on red alert !

Man United full back Patrice Evra could leave the club this Summer should he fail to put pen to paper and sign a new contract with the Reds.

There surely won't be any shortage of clubs ready to snatch up the player who has been dubbed "the best full back in the world today". It is thought that the likes of AC Milan, Inter, Real Madrid Barca, and even the other big three in England could try snatch up the former Monaco star.

It would be an absolute catastrophe if United were to lose Evra so all I can say is give him what he wants and let it all be done with beacuse it's bad enough to lose a player but especially on a free transfer where you could have made some big bucks.

Liverpool face competition for £8 million left back !

Juventus and Fiorentina have joined Liverpool in the race to sign Udinese full back Andrea Dossena according to reports in several of today's papers.

Liverpool were thought to have the deal for the 26 year old virtually completed however now it appears as though they will have to out bid both Juve and Fiorentina to secure the signature of Dossena.

The Reds are still leading the race for the Italian international although they will probably have to up their bid a couple of million to £8 million to see off any competition. Rafa has made it clear that he wants to strengthen in the full backs positions and signing Dossena would be a good start in doing so.

Barcelona Reportedly Unhappy about Messi Decision

Messi going to OlympicsIt is strongly rumoured that Barcelona board is reportedly unhappy about Messi's decision to represent his country in Beijing Olympics. Barcelona after finishing third has to play the qualifying rounds of Champions League precisely at the same time of Olympics. Barcelona directors wants their start player, Messi to stay with the club rather than go to Beijing. Now this has become a Country versus Club battle. I have wrote about this growing conflict between clubs and country after the formation of European Clubs Association. Messi has categorically stated that he would prefer to go to Beijing and represent his country. It is also rumoured that Lionel Messi’s father has met with Barcelona director Txiki Begiristain to talk about the player’s possible involvement in this summer's Olympics. Does Barcelona really require the presence of Lionel Messi to see them through the Champions League qualification? They have enough star power to see them through regardless of the opponents. But this look like Club is keen is excising its clout to prevent him from going to Beijing. They should remember that if Messi is vital in Barcelona's plans, then it's the same with Argentina. Argentina has the right to call upon their sons to represent their country in the greatest sporting spectacle.

Now coming to the rumours section, Deco has expressed his wish to move away from Cam Nou. Everyone expected him to move to Inter to join his old manager Mourinho, but it looks like he is not in Mourinho's scheme of things. Now he has to find another destination. Villareal has rejected Barcelona's offer for Martin Caceres. Barcelona is keen to sign him but looks like has to cough up the whol 20 million euros as stipulated by the players buy-out clause. Another issue for Barcelona is signing of Alves. Dani Alves has again reitered that he wants to move towards Barcelona. But Sevilla looks like not interested, which should result in Barcelona being forced to buy him out.

Pique Comes Back To Barca - Is This Necessary?

Gerrard Pirue Signs For BarcelonaGerrard Pique Bernabeu signed a four year deal with Barcelona which sees him back in the club where he started his youth career. It’s rumoured that Barcelona has to pay a fee of 6 million Euros in order to sign the defender. Gerard Pique has traditionally played in the centre back but can be used as a Left Back or a Defensive Midfielder. His height should give him superiority in the air, which Barcelona is lacking for some time. Pique is the grandson of former Barcelona director Amador Bernabeu. His surname did confuse me because of the similarity with former Madrid president Santiago Bernabeu. Pique was a member of the Barcelona youth team and grew up along with Messi and Fabregas. In 2004 Barcelona was reportedly unhappy and furious with Manchester United snatching him from their hands. Pique dismissed Barcelona's frustration saying that he was ill treated by the club after he decided to move away from Barcelona. Has anybody assured him about a better treatment this time needs to know :-)?

Gerard Pique went after the money when he decided to sign for Manchester United. He actually was convinced by Ferguson to sign up for ManU ahead of Arsenal. In the next season he was loaned out to Zaragoza and stayed back in ManU getting a little bit of first team action. Ferguson considered him as a good back up for his defenders and Pep also has to use him the same way. There was huge debate among Barcelona fans circle about Barcelona not getting anything from Pique's signing with Manchester United. But now Barcelona has to cough up 6 million to get him back. Barcelona still has to sign a quality defender as a back up for injured Milito. I don't think Pique could fill in his boots. But he could be a good back up player. His buyout clause is set at 50 million baffles me, is he that good player? Anyway as far as Manchester United is considered he was a good business, they made money from him while loaning him out and now selling him to Barcelona. Is this a good trend, I don't Know?

Spurs to land Barca striker and it's not Eto'o?

Tottenham have tonight emerged as favourites to sign Barcelona striker Giovanni Dos Santos.

The Mexican international has been linked with a whole host of moves away from the Camp Nou in recent weeks after it emerged that the La Liga giants may listen to offers.

Spurs boss Juande Ramos is apparently willing to pay £11 million for the 19-year old in order to see off competition from Man City.

I personally would love to see Dos Santos in the Premier League. I have seen him on several occasions for Barca and each time he has shown me something different about his play.

I do however feel £11 million is a bit much for such a young player and I think Spurs would be more advised to try and work a loan deal out at first.

Real look to snatch Gunners midfielder

Real Madrid are preparing a move for Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb after only learning of his availability in the last few days.

The Gunners midfielder is almost certain to leave the Emirates this summer after admitting he has failed to adapt to life in the English capital.

The 27-year old has spent three seasons with the Premier League giants playing over 100 times in the process.

"There are a couple of positions that we can improve and that needs to be strengthened to have the necessary balance," Real boss Bernd Schuster told AS.

"Over the past two months we have had a plan and we know what we want, but now Hleb has been added.

"We did not know he could leave Arsenal but in recent days it has been more positive. We were surprised that he might leave there."

I personally think Hleb would be a terrific player in La Liga although I feel it is a real shame that he is leaving the Premier League.

Gunners prepare £20 million bid for Spanish duo

Arsenal are preparing a £20 million bid for Real Mallorca striker Dani Guiza and Real Madrid midfielder Ruben De La Red. (Daily Star)

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is looking to spend big this summer as he looks to strengthen his squad for a serious title bid next season.

Guiza, 27, scored 27 goals in 37 games for Mallorca last season prompting Wenger to have a close look. Meanwhile, De La Red, 22, recently returned to Real Madrid after a year away from the club, but Wenger is looking to snatch him from Madrid's hands.

I personally think both players would be decent additions to an Arsenal squad that needs some improving. Guiza could be the player to partner Adebayor up front next season for Arsenal and De La Red could be the man to replace Flamini.

Spurs and Chelsea battle for £12 million England ace

Chelsea and Tottenham are to spend the summer battling it out for the signature of Blackburn midfielder David Bentley after the player rejected a new contract at Ewood Park. (Various)

The former Arsenal player has been linked with several moves away from Blakcburn in recent weeks as speculation mounts he wants a move away from the club.

The 23-year old is set to cost either Chelsea or Spurs at least £12 million and in my view that is a bargain. Bentley has been, without doubt, one of Blackburn's best players over the past two years.

I personally hope Bentley opts for a move to Spurs because he will definitely receive more game time at White Hart Lane. I also feel several more clubs will come into the reckoning if Bentley does publicly admit he wants an exit.

Spurs target £21 million trio !

Tottenham are targeting Summer moves for Tarik Elyounoussi, Giovani dos Santos and Valon Behrami according to reports in several of today's papers.

Tarik Elyounoussi is a Norwegian international currently playing for Fredrikstad FK. He was awarded young player of the year for the last two consecutive seasons for the Norwegian outfit. After being dubbed as "one of the best to come out of Norway", Spurs will have to pay out about £4 million for the 20 year old.

Giovani dos Santos is one of the hottest prospects to come out of Barcelona's youth system and at the age of just 19 he has made 28 appearances for the La Liga side bagging 4 goals in the process. After watching him on numerous occasions it's easy to see sparks of brilliance from the Mexican, so the attacking midfielder should cost Spurs about £7 million.

Valon Behrami is a left back come left midfielder come right back come right midfielder...pause for breath. The £ 10 million rated Swiss international is currently playing for Lazio and it is thought that Juande Ramos may be interested in making a move for the 23 year old this Summer.

Liverpool make shock move for £1 million defender !

Liverpool have shockingly been linked with Bristol defender Liam Fontaine today in the Daily Mirror.

The 22 year old who spent most of his professional career on loan from Fulham joined Bristol on a permanent basis in 2006 and has made 65 appearances. However reports today are linking the defender with Liverpool in what could be a shock £1 million transfer.

As a Liverpool fan myself I really hope that these are just more rumours that will never materialise because if we want to be challenging for titles were not going to with Championship players... no offence Liam.

Keita Moves To Barcelona

Keita moves to BarcelonaNow its official, Seydou Keita has become the first Malian to wear a Barcelona shirt. Barcelona paid the 14 million Euros release clause in Keita's contract to Sevilla. He signed the contract which will officially see him in the club until end of June 2012. The release clause has been set at a whooping 90 million Euros. The Mali international has thus become the first signing after Guardiola took charge. He may soon see his team mate Alves joining him at Barcelona. Keita has also become the ninth African player to join Barcelona.

Keita started his top flight footballing career in 1999-2000 seasons at Olympique Marseille. But shortly he was transferred to FC Lorient, where he completed his transformation to a quality defensive midfield player. Then he moved to RC Lens in the 2002-03 seasons. The 2006-07 seasons were so productive for him in terms of goals and success - he scored 11 goals in 37 games. But Lens has to let him go reluctantly after Keita reached an agreement with Sevilla. He continued the good work in Sevilla also scoring four goals from 31 games. But his ability, skill and his track record with buy-out clauses should be the reason why Barcelona has set a huge release clause for him. Whatever this one is a quality striker. he will be able to fill into the shoes of Edmillson and cover the great void in midfield. But how Guardiola is going to use both Yaya and Keita together is to be seen. Keita and Yaya both are quality players and will demand regular first team actions. Add to this Xavi and Iniesta who will be the driving force in Midfiled, Guardiola might be in for something.

Barca snatch up £11 million Liverpool target !

Barcelona have signed Sevilla midfielder Seydou Keita for a fee of £11 million. It had been rumoured that Liverpool were targeting the Malian.

Keita only signed for Sevilla last season from French outfit RC Lens but has obviously had a very successful season at the La Liga side thus triggering interest from Barcelona. The centre midfielder has made over 20 appearances for his national side of Mali bagging 3 goals in the process.

It was thought Rafa Benitez was pondering a move for the 28 year old but I personally feel that Liverpool have sufficient cover in that position with Alonso(Should we hold onto him), Mascherano, Lucas and young Damien Plessis coming through.

Chelsea to make massive £50 million bid for Spanish striker

Chelsea are preparing a £50 million bid for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres. (Daily Mail)

The Spanish international has made a superb start to his career in the Premier League since his £20 million + move to Liverpool.

The 24-year old scored 24 Premier League goals in his first season at the club, which has sparked Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich into making a massive £50 million bid for the player.

I personally can't see Torres leaving so soon after he has arrived at Liverpool. I would think that Chelsea will try to lure him to Stamford Bridge with a huge pay-packet but I can't see this deal happening.

Mancini and Hiddink rule themselves out of the running for the Chelsea job but Rijkaard certainly isn't

Guus Hiddink and Roberto Mancini have today said they are not interested in the Chelsea job, however Frank Rijkaard is said to be very keen to take the reins at Stamford Bridge.

Former South Korean manager Guus Hiddink's agent said "There's no way Guus will go to Chelsea,"

Meanwhile, Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini's agent said "He (Mancini) has a four-year contract with Inter and he is very happy to stay there,"

Former Barcelona boss Frank Rijkaard is certainly not ruling himself out of the running and a top Dutch journalist reckons he's 90% sure to be the next Chelsea boss.

I personally think the appointment of Rijkaard would be decent for Chelsea. He won the Champions League at Barca but he never really did anything other than that special during his five years at the Camp Nou.

Milan challenge Spurs for £24 million striker

AC Milan have today expressed an interest in Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o following weeks of speculation over the players future. (skysports.com)

Eto'o has been linked with several different clubs in recent weeks including Tottenham who are said to be keen on bringing him to White Hart Lane to replace the outgoing Dimitar Berbatov.

Eto'o is more than likely to leave the Camp Nou this summer and it is thought he will be let go for around the £24 million mark. The 27-year old has spent over three seasons at Barcelona scoring 77 goals in the process.

I personally hope Eto'o doesn't join AC Milan because I want to see him in the Premier League. He is a terrific player that scores bag fulls of goals wherever he has been and I feel he would be a terrific player in the Premier League.

United, Arsenal and City chase Barca striker

Newcastle United, Arsenal and Manchester City are still interested in Barcelona striker Theirry Henry despite the club saying they will not sell him. (Daily Star)

The former Arsenal striker has been linked with several moves away from Barca in recent weeks after his first season with the La Liga giants didn't quite go to plan.

The 30-year old French international has made just 30 appearances for Barca scoring 12 times during his first seaosn at the club.

I would personally love to see Henry come back to the Premier League. However, I do think it is unlikely due to the new Barca boss, Pep Guardioula taking the reins at the Camp Nou.

Wenger : £14 million Flamini replacement "likely to sign" !

Arsene Wenger has told French media source Telefoot that a deal for Samir Nasri is "likely to happen", but if it does, "it will be before the start of the European Championship."

Arsenal have been on the look out for possible midfield targets as replacements for Mathieu Flamini and the rumoured exit of Alexander Hleb. The London club have been linked with Werder Bremen's Diego, but it appears now as though Marseille play maker, Samir Nasri, will be the Gunners' first introduction this Summer.

It is thought that Arsene Wenger will have to splash out up to £14 million on the French international but we have learnt by now that the Frenchman knows a good buy when he sees one.

Nasri has impressed immensely on the European stage in the past few seasons and it will be intriguing to see how he gets on in the Premier League should he complete his move to Arsenal this Summer.

United eye £8 million Chelsea midfielder

Newcastle United are preparing a £8 million bid for Chelsea midfielder Shaun Wright-Phillips. (Sunday Mirror)

The England international has struggled to show his real quality at Chelsea during his three year spell at the club.

Kevin Keegan is said to be very keen to bring the former Manchester City star to St James' Park. The 26-year old has made just under 90 appearances for Chelsea during his spell at the club.

I personally think Wright-Phillips would be crazy to stay at Stamford Bridge. It is clear to see that he doesn't belong their and he would make a good right-midfielder somewhere else.

Liverpool close on £12 million winger

Liverpool are plotting a bid for Blackburn winger David Bentley this Summer according to reports in The People today.

The former Arsenal star made his move to Ewood Park permanent in 2006 after spending a year on loan with Mark Hughes' side. After being on the fringes of the Arsenal side, his move to Blackburn has not only provided the 23 year old with regular first team football but has also, in my opinion virtually cemented his place at right midfield in the England side.

His stunning domestic performances this season have also led to the former Norwich star being linked with all of the top 5 clubs. Rafa Benitez is reportedly ready to make a £12 million move for Bentley in the hope of sorting out Liverpool's long term problem on the wings.

I personally think that he would be a very welcome introduction to the Liverpool side but players like Riise, Carson and Pennant will have to be sold in order to provide funds for the £12 million splurge.

Spurs prepare £8 million move for La Liga ace

Tottenham are preparing a move for Espanyol keeper Carlos Kemani after the player admitted he would be interested in a move to White Hart lane. (Sunday Mirror)

Spurs' goalkeeping problems have been well documented in recent months and it has became clearly apparent that Juande Ramos is looking to strengthen that part of the team.

Kameni, 24, is widely regarded as one of La Liga's best keepers and is valued at around the £8 million mark. He has over 30 caps for his country Cameroon and has been with Espanyol for over four years now.

I personally think kameni would be a terrific acquisition for Spurs. Kameni is a very athletic and a very good shot stopper and I feel he is just what Spurs need right now.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs, City, Pompey, Everton and Boro show interest in Valencia star

Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Man City, Everton, Portsmouth and Middlesbrough are all interested in bringing Valencia midfielder Edu back to the Premier League. (Sunday Mirror)

Edu, 30, spent five years at Arsenal and it is thought now that he is interested in a move back to England following three years at Valencia.

The former Brazilian international made sixteen appearances for his country failing to score in the process.

I felt during his time at Arsenal, Edu was a very creative player and I was sad to see him leave the Premier League when he did.

But will all the interested parties in him now, I am pretty sure he will be returning and I think he will prove to be a terrific signing for whoever does sign him.

Former Gunners legend nearly joined Man United

Barcelona striker Thierry Henry was close to joining Manchester United last week but the move was blocked by new Barca boss Pep Guardiola. (News of the World)

The former Arsenal striker has been linked with several returns to the Premier League in recent weeks and months following his first season in La Liga.

It is thought that the two sides reached a £10 million agreement for the French international. The 30-year old said he would never play for another Premier League club before he left Arsenal.

I personally don't think Henry would ever join United, although I may be wrong. He spent eight glorious years at Arsenal and I feel if he was going to come back to the Premier League it would be to the Emirates.

Liverpool set for massive £60 million clear-out

Liverpool are set for a massive £60 million clear-out with the likes of Peter Crouch, Xabi Alonso, Scott Carson and John Arne Riise set to be axed at Anfield. (News of the World)

It is also thought that Jermaine Pennant, Steve Finnan and Alvaro Arbeloa will also be told to pack their bags as Rafa Benitez looks to create some much needed funds for transfer activity.

Crouch, 27, has been linked with a whole host of clubs including Portsmouth, Newcastle and Aston Villa. Meanwhile, Scott Carson was said to be on the brink of joining Aston Villa but Villa boss Martin O'Neill was unwilling to pay the fee.

I personally think this is just what Liverpool need. They need to clean out all the shite in their squad before they try and start bringing some top class players. I would be very surprised if all seven left but I can see at least four of them leaving the club.

Chelsea make hasty decision in sacking Grant

Chelsea have today decided to sack manager Avram Grant after just under a season at the club.

Grant took over from Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge back in September of last year, much to the dismayal of the Blues fans.

Grant eventually led Chelsea to runners-up spot in the Premier League, Carling Cup and the trophy which I feel mattered the most to Mr Abramovich, the Champions League.

I personally think Grant has been harshly treated. Many people thought Chelsea would go right down hill when he took over but that could not be further from the truth.

Mourinho never got Chelsea to a Champions League final and as soon as the next manager does reach that, he gets sacked.

Frank Rijkaard and Roberto Mancini and said to be among the favourites to take over the Chelsea hot seat. I personally think Mourinho @ 16/1 with most bookmakers is a bit of value.

Pompey face stiff competition from United, Spurs and Sunderland for £8 million defender

Portsmouth will face stiff competition from Newcastle United, Tottenham and Sunderland in their bid to sign Manchester City defender Richard Dunne. (Daily Mail)

The player is said to be on the brink of leaving the club after the fall out between owner and manager.

Dunne, 28, has been at City for over seven years now since joining from fellow Premier League side Everton. He has developed into a magnificent defender at the club and is currently the captain.

The Irish international is likely to cost £8 million to whatever club wants to buy him. As a City fan myself, I would personally be gutted to see Dunne leave. He has simply been immense these past few season and I can see many other players wanting leave if he does indeed go.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool do battle for £12 million United striker

Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are to battle it for the signature of Newcastle United striker Obafemi Martins this summer. (The Sun)

It is reported that Newcastle have tried to offload him to Liverpool in recent months, but his has alerted the attentions of both Chelsea and Arsenal.

Martins, 23, has been at St James' Park for over two seasons now since joining from Inter Milan. Before he joined the Magpies there was talk of a move to Arsenal but nothing ever materialised their.

Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan will only listen to offers of £12 million and above. I personally think Martins is a very good player and he also has Champions League experience which could be a key factor in him leaving Newcastle.

Spurs plan £25 million bid for Chelsea duo

Tottenham are planning a £25 million bid for Chelsea duo Nicolas Anelka and Shaun Wright-Phillips. (Daily Express)

Both players are somewhat on the fringes of the starting eleven at Stamford Bridge and it is though both would be interested in a move across London.

Anelka, 29, only joined Chelsea last January from fellow Premier League side Bolton for a fee of around £16 million. Meanwhile, Wright-Phillips, 26, has been with Chelsea for over three seasons now since joining from Man City for £23 million.

I feel both would be fairly decent signings for Spurs and at £25 million, it isn't a bad price for two such talented players. I think Juande Ramos sees Anelka as a replacement to Berbatov who is almost certain to leave White Hart Lane in the coming months.

Liverpool duo wanted by Italian giants

Liverpool duo John Arne Riise and Xabi Alonso are targets of Italian giants Juventus. (Gazzetta dello Sport)

Alonso has been linked with a move to Juve for over a month now as speculation mounts he will be let go this summer in order to facilitate the arrival of more players at Anfield.

The Spanish international has been at Liverpool for over four years now making over 100 appearances during his time at the club.

Meanwhile, Riise, 27, is also wanted by the Serie A side. Riise is almost certain to leave the Reds this summer after Rafa Benitez admitted he would listen to offers for the Norwegian.

I think if Liverpool were to receive around the £20 million mark for both players that wouldn't be too bad. Both aren't really first team regulars anymore and it would be probably best for both parties for them to move on.

Real turn attention to Gunners star as they miss out on Ronaldo !

Real Madrid have turned their attention to signing Aliaksandr Hleb this Summer after Alex Ferguson issued a "hands off" warning on Premier League Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 27 year old joined The Gunners in 2005 and has made over 90 appearances since then. However according to reports from AS this afternoon, Spanish giants Real Madrid are looking to snatch up the Belarusian this Summer.

Arsenal have already lost Mathieu Flamini so far this transfer window and unless they buy big this year it will look like another third or fourth place for the Londoners next season. Hleb's agent has come out and said that it is a great honour to be linked with Real.

Liverpool sign son of former Reds star !

Liverpool have signed Thomas Ince son of MK Dons manager and former Liverpool star Paul Ince.Thomas, 16, is a striker and has only been taken on by the club as a first-year academy trainee, however it is thought that the club has high hopes for the son of the former Anfield legend.

Gunners given green light to sign Mexican striker

Arsenal have today moved a step close to completing the permanent signing Mexican striker Carlos Vela after the player was granted a work permit today.

The 19-year old spent last season on loan at Spanish side Osasuna scoring three goals in 23 appearances.

The Mexican international has three caps for his country and is widely regarded as one of the country's hottest prospects. Vela joined Arsenal back in 2005 but was ineligible for a work permit at the time.

I have seen and heard many good things about this player. "Carlos has played the whole season at Osasuna on the left-wing and he had to work hard there," said Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger. "But for me it is not his position. He is a central striker, an Eduardo type. He is a great young player."

Man United to release French defender

Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre is on the brink of quitting the club to sign for French side Marseille. (Daily Telegraph)

The former French international defender has been out of favour at United for the past 18 months or so and it is thought that he is almost certain to leave the club this summer.

Silvestre, 30, is to sign a four-year deal with Marseille in the coming days to end a nine year stay at Old Trafford. He has made over 250 appearances for the club scoring six goals in the process.

It will be sad to see Silvestre leave the Premier League but I feel he is making the right decision to leave now. Patrice Evra has firmly placed himself in the left-back role at United and it would be highly unlikely that Silvestre could get back in the first team.

Are We Being Fair To Giovani?

Giovani Leaving BarcelonaGiovani Dos Santos looked like a completely baffled man. At least his recent comments as quoted by media give us an impression of a very confused person. From the moment Barcelona's season started going, all the fingers started pointing on him along with Ronaldinho. It was said that he will never be able to make a switch to first team action. His hardships were increased by the fact that his colleague Bojan, who was promoted along with him, looked like cemented his position. He has scored only four goals throughout the season compared to Bojan's eleven. he could only manage ten La Liga starts compared to Bojan's fourteen. He had to wait till the last game to get into the La Liga goal books, even though he did that is style. Barcelona fans and media are searching for scapegoats at every nook and he appears to be one of their favourite now. Before the start of this season, he was linked to a number of clubs but he came forward and declared that his future is with Barcelona. At that time that was hailed by Barcelona fans and used to question Fabregas' decision. But at the end of the season it looks like Giovani might be regretting his decision.

Many Barcelona fans have already written him off as an over rated players. True that he came to the team as the next Ronaldinho; but expecting that he will turn around the fortunes of the club was too much. Everyone seems like forgetting the fact that this is his first season and not interested in giving him some breathing space. I do agree with the fact that Bojan had made more impact than Dos Santos in the first season; but how can you write him off just because his first season didn't come off that well. Bojan has been more consistent among the two and also have been more effective. But isn't it because he get a chance to play more in his natural positions. Most of his goals are from simple tap in; I do agree that he has a great positioning sense and a great goal scoring instinct. Giovani is a different player to Bojan; he fits more into the playmaker style of role than the striker. Many times this season he seemed lost when he started in the lineup. But isn't it natural in a maiden season. Even Messi in his first season gave an impression that he cannot shoot to save his life. The fact that he made his debut in a difficult season should not be held against him. Already suggestions are made to send him on loan to another club so that he can gain experience. I don't understand this theory, why Barcelona is a bad place to earn experience? Giovani has shrugged off this suggestion; many consider this as arrogance. But I would like to consider this as a testimony to his tough character. He has categorically stated that, if he leaves it will be forever. He looks like a kid with tough character and a great belief in him. If Barcelona decides to sell him in the end it would be a sad day for the club and its youth system. It also sends the wrong signals to youngsters that First team will not be accommodative for the young talents. Secondly I am totally convinced about his talents and is absolutely sure that he will make Barca pay for such a mistake. But I have a feeling Barcelona is strongly considering to sell him, otherwise with so much rumours floating Barcelona board would have backed him. Maybe they are waiting for the right price.

Spurs plan £13 million bid for French striker

Tottenham are today planning a £13 million bid for Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka after the player admitted he was unhappy at the club. (L'Equipe)

The French international striker only joined Chelsea back in January for a fee of around £16 million from fellow Premier League side Bolton.

He has only scored twice so far for Chelsea and missed the deciding penalty in the sides Champions League final defeat to Man United.

Anelka told L'Equipe : "I didn't come here to play on the right or on the left," I can't really blame Anelka. I don't think he has been given a fair chance at all by Blues boss Avram Grant and he may turn out to be a decent signing for Spurs if he does decide to move across London.

Spurs to swoop for French keeper to replace Robinson

Tottenham have today expressed an interest in Lyon goalkeeper Gergory Coupet in order to replace existing keeper Paul Robinson. (The Sun)

The French international keeper is said to be interested in a move away from Lyon where he has spent the past eleven years.

Coupet, 35, is very highly regarded in Europe and would be, in my view, a terrific signing for Spurs if they get him for the rumoured £2.5 million.

Meanwhile, Paul Robinson looks sure to be on his way out of White Hart Lane this summer with both Aston Villa and Bolton said to be interested.

If both deals were to go through I think Spurs boss Juande Ramos can afford to feel pretty happy about it. He would be making around a £3 million profit from the two deals and I think that would be terrific business for Spurs.

Liverpool look to sell quartet to free up funds for summer of spending

Liverpool are looking to sell quartet Jermaine Pennant, Peter Crouch, Steve Finnan and John Arne Riise as Reds boss Rafa Benitez looks to free up funds for the summer. (Daily Mail)

All four players have been linked with moves away from Anfield in recent months as Liverpool get ready for a busy summer in the transfer window.

Crouch, 27, has been linked with a whole host of clubs including Newcastle, Portsmouth and Aston Villa in recent weeks after Benitez confirmed the club would listen to offers.

I feel this is a good move for Liverpool. They need to clean out the large majority of their squad before they can't start fully rebuilding for a title bid next season.

Ronaldo stays at United... but for how long?

When asked about his future at Old Trafford after last night's Champions league final, Manchester United star player Cristiano Ronaldo said "I stay".

Ronaldo has been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid for some time now as speculation grows he is about to quit the Premier League champions.

United chief executive David Gill has said Ronaldo is not available at any price and he would definitely be playing for United next season.

But how long will it be before Ronaldo does inevitably leave? My own personal guess is one more season, however I do feel he may have a change of heart and decide, I will go out of United on a real high and leave this summer.

Man United close in on signing of £20 million striker

Manchester United have today moved a step close to completing the £20 million permanent signing of Carlos Tevez. (Daily Express)

The Argentine international played the full match in United's epic 6-5 penalty shoot-out victory over Chelsea last night, scoring United first spot-kick.

The 26-year old has been with United for a season now since joining from fellow Premier League side West Ham in one of the years most conterversal deals.

It is thought now that officials from United have talked with the owners of Tevez and a deal is imminent. This is obviously great news for United fans because Tevez has been superb this season.

£20 million in my view is a fair price for such a good player and I think that will look a bargain within 18 months.

Villa and Liverpool fail to reach an agreement for England ace

Aston Villa have ended their plans to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson after failing to reach an agreement for the England international. (Daily Telegraph)

The 22-year old had spent last season on loan with Villa and impressed during his spell. It is thought now that Villa manager Martin O'Neill is unwilling to pay the £10 million price-tag for Carson.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez told the Liverpool Echo "It is a matter between the clubs,". "We agreed the fee with Aston Villa last year. The fee has been there for one season so to talk about the fee now is not correct."

I personally think that £10 million for Carson is a bit much. I would value at around the £7 million mark and I feel Benitez is being to greedy with his valuation. I do however feel some other club will come in for Carson during the summer.

Top Three Barcelona Goals of This Season

Usually when you think about rating the best goals of the season, there always exist a chance that you may go bad, especially with Barcelona. But not this time friends, not this time. It was pretty easy. There were only a handful of goals which can be considered, and picking the best was as easy as it gets. This is my list and if I have missed some please let me know. I have short listed three goals, with Henry, Eto and Ronnie making their presence . Its a pity I could not include the best player of this season - Iniesta in the list. The list starts in the reverse order.

3) Third in the list is Eto's goal against Mallorca in a 2-0 victory.

2) Henry features on the list at number 2 with this stunning strike against Celtic in that thrilling 3-2 victory.

1) Who can be in the top position - Ronaldinho. With this unbelievable goal against Athletico Madrid. Barcelona lost the match 4-2.

Spurs join Liverpool in race to sign £8 million Italian

Tottenham have today joined Liverpool in the race to sign Udinese left-back Andrea Dossena. (Daily Star)

The Italian international has been linked with a move to Liverpool for the past few weeks now as speculation mounts that he is to leave Udinese.

The 26-year old has been with Udinese for just over two seasons now since joining from Treviso. He has one cap to his name for Italy, playing in his country's friendly against South Africa last year.

Both Rafa Benitez and Juande Ramos are said to be willing to pay the £8 million price tag for the player. I have only seen bits of Dossena in recent months but from the stuff I have seen he certainly looks well capable of playing for top sides like Spurs and Liverpool.

Spurs move in on United's £15 million rated Summer target

Tottenham boss Juande Ramos is supposedly looking to sign Brazilian striker Luis Fabiano from his former club Sevilla this Summer after missing out on Samuel Eto'o according to reports in the Daily Mirror today.

The 27 year old joined Sevilla in 2005 from Porto for a fee of around €10 million and it has proved a very successful move for the Brazilian international as he has averaged more than a goal every two games for the Spanish outfit.

The striker has been strongly linked with Man United in recent weeks, however it appears now as though Fabiano's former boss is now also interseted in signing him... again. It is thought that he is valued at about £15 million.

Spurs turn thier attentions to £12 million Argentinian after missing out on Eto'o

Tottenham have today turned their attentions to Real Zaragoza striker Diego Milito after missing out on Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o. (Daily Mirror)

Spurs boss Juande Ramos was said to be keen on bringing Eto'o to the club but it looks as though now he won't be moving to White Hart Lane.

They are instead now going for £12 million Argentinian striker Diego Milito. The 28-year old has been linked with several moves to the Premier League in recent months.

He has over a dozen caps for Argentina, scoring four times in the process. I have seen Milito on several occasions now and I must say he looks a hell of a player although I wouldn't be spending £12 million on a 28-year old.

Liverpool midfielder on the brink of £12 million exit

Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso is on the brink of leaving Anfield for Italian side Juventus. (Press Association)

It is believed that the two clubs have agreed a £12 million fee for the Spanish international. Alonso has failed to produce anything like his best form this season and this has led to intense speculation over his future.

The 26-year old has been with Liverpool for over four seasons now since joining from Spanish side Real Sociedad. He has made over 100 appearances for the club scoring just over a dozen goals in the process.

It would be sad to see Alonso leave the Premier League because for the past few years he has put in some memorable performances for Rafa Benitez' men. This season hasn't been quite the same with Javier Mascherano keeping him out of the team but he still remains a quality player.

Gunners line up £50 million midfield trio !

Arsenal are targeting one of three players this Summer to replace the Juventus bound Mathieu Flamini. They include Marseille's Samir Nasri, Lisbon star Miguel Veloso or else Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani.

Nasri has been linked with several Premier League clubs after his outstanding performances on the European stage for Marseille this season.

Veloso is another player who is constantly being rumoured with moves to both The Gunners and Manchester United. It was expected that he was going to move to either of those clubs last Summer, however neither were quick enough to get the transfer completed, before the window closed.

Another player who may be on Arsenal's shopping list is Roma's Alberto Aquilani. The £12 million rated midfielder has been noticed on a number of occasions this season for his performances both domestically and in the Champions League.

Liverpool's Spanish target says he is "open to move" !

Espanyol star Albert Riera has said that he would listen to offers from clubs this Summer according to reports from BBC Sport today.

The 26 year old joined Espanyol from Bordeaux in 2005 and has since made 72 appearances for the Spanish outfit, scoring 8 times in the process. He has also spent a short time on loan at Man City and has gotten several caps for the Spanish first team.

The left winger is yet to deny being in touch with Liverpool when asked in the media but it is thought that it will be few weeks yet before Liverpool make an official offer.

Spurs challenge Pompey and Rovers for £7 million United winger

Tottenham have joined Portsmouth and Blackburn in the race to sign Newcastle United midfielder Damien Duff. (Daily Mail)

The Ireland international has failed to make an impression with Newcastle since joining them from Chelsea two years ago.

It is thought now that Kevin Keegan will listen to offers for the 29-year old of in and around £7 million. Duff player with Blackburn before and word has it that he may be interested in a return.

I personally think it's time for Duff to leave Newcastle and make a fresh new start somewhere else. He has been unlucky with injuries and what not at St James' but he hasn't really been good enough.

Liverpool move for £8 million Italian to replace Riise

Liverpool have today made a move to replace left-back John Arne Riise by preparing a £8 million bid for Udinese defender Andrea Dossena. (Various)

Reds boss Rafa Benitez is said to be on the look-out for a new left sided defender and it is thought now that he will make a move for Dossena.

The Italian international is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League. He has made just one appearance for Italy and has been with Udinese for over three years now.

The 26-year old is a relative unknown to me although I have heard some very good things about him. I feel it is time for Benitez to go out and buy a top class left sided defender and it looks as though he has found his man in Dossena.

Gunners prepare £14 million bid for French ace

Arsenal are preparing a £14 million summer bid for Marseille attacking midfielder Samir Nasri. (Various)

The French international has impressed Gunners boss Arsene Wenger this season and it is now likely that the Gunners boss will take him to the Emirates.

Nasri, 20, is labelled by many the next Zinedine Zidane (high praise for such a young player). He has over a half dozen caps for France scoring twice in the process.

I really think this kid could turn out to be amazing. I have seen him on several occasions now and each time he has impressed me. I feel Arsenal could have an absolute gem on their hands if they sign Nasri.

Barca challenge United for £24 million Brazilian

Barcelona are to challenge Manchester United for the signature of Sevilla right-back Dani Alves. (Daily Star)

The Brazilian international has been linked with several moves away from Sevilla in recent months. The 25-year old is said to be interested in a move to a bigger club.

Both Barca and United are said to be willing to pay the £24 million price tag placed on Alves' head. Alves is widely regarded as one of Europe's best right-backs and has made over a dozen appearances for Brazil.

I personally would love to see Alves move to the Premier League. He is a terrific defender that likes to get forward and in my view he would be a tremendous replacement to Gary Neville at United.

Hammers chase £6 million United striker

West Ham are chasing Manchester United Louis Saha who is set to leave the club at the end of the season. (The Guardian)

Saha, 29, admits he is likely to be on his way after the Champions League final. He has failed to nail down a first team place at Old Trafford since joining from Fulham.

Hammers boss Alan Curbishley is apparently willing to offer United as much as £6 million for the striker.

It comes as no surprise to me to see Saha linked with a move away from United. He has been unlucky with injuries and such in recent months but quite frankly he hasn't been good enough for Sir Alex.

Gunners eye £15 million Italian midfielder

Arsenal are eyeing up a possible £15 million move for AS Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani. (Setanta Sports)

The Italian international has been linked with several moves to the Premier League in recent weeks and months.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is keen to add to his midfield options after the departure of Matthieu Flamini last month to AC Milan.

Aquilani, 23, is said to be interested in a move to the Emirates and his agent has confirmed that there has been talks between the two parties.

I have seen bits of Aquilani and I must say every time I have seen him he has impressed. He is a terrific passer of the ball and posses a terrific shot and I feel he would be a terrific signing for Arsenal.

United to miss out on £10 million Premier League winger

Manchester United look set to miss out on Wigan Athletic midfielder Antonio Valencia after he stated he wanted to remain at the club. (El Universo)

The player has been heavily linked with a £10 million exit from the JJB in recent weeks with Liverpool also said to be interested in the Ecuadorian.

The 22-year old has been with Wigan for just over two years now after initially joining on loan from Spanish side Villarreal. He has made a big impact in his short time with Steve Bruce's men which has in turn led to this speculation.

I personally think Valencia is right to stay at Wigan for at least another season. He is only young and their no doubt he will turn out to play for a top side like United in years to come.

Barca track £40 million of Gunners talent

Barcelona are keeping tabs on Arsenal trio Robin Van Persie, Theo Walcott and Alexander Hleb. (Epping Forest Guardian)

Hleb has been linked with a move away from the Gunners in recent weeks as speculation mounts that he wants out of the Emirates.

Inter and AC Milan are said to be among the interested parties for the 27-year old but Barca are now said to be keen on the player.

Meanwhile, Van Persie is also wanted by the La Liga giants. The Dutch international is seen by many Barca fans as a perfect replacement to the outgoing Ronaldinho.

Theo Walcott was linked with several loan exits from Arsenal in recent months with several Championship sides said to be interested. The 19-year old has impressed Gunners boss Arsene Wenger in recent months and there is no doubt he will be doing his best to hold onto the player.

Obviously this isn't great news for Arsenal fans. All three players in question contribute to the side in different ways and there is no doubt Arsenal wouldn't be the same without them at the club.

United star to depart for Barca

Barcelona are today close to agreeing a deal to sign Manchester United defender Gerard Pique. (Sky Sports)

Pique left Barcelona as a teenager but has since struggled to nail down a first team place at Old Trafford.

The 21-year old returned to La Liga back in 2005 when he went on-loan to Real Zaragoza where he impressed.

"Things are at an advanced stage," Barca's sporting director Txiki Bergiristain confirmed. "I can't deny that he is one of the players we're interested in, but he is involved in the Champions League final so things are on hold."

I am personally not that surprised that Pique is going to return to Spain. He clearly hasn't settled in England and I think it's best for both parties to part company.

Spurs lead race for £24 million striker

Tottenham remain favourites to sign Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o after bidding £24 million for the player. (London Evening Standard)

The Cameroon international has been linked with several moves away from Barca in recent weeks with Italian giants Inter Milan and AC Milan also said to be interested.

The 27-year old is said to be unhappy in Spani and in search of a move away from the club. Spurs boss Juande Ramos is apparently keen on bringing Eto'o in to replace the outgoing Dimitar Berbatov.

There is no doubt in my mind that Eto'o would be a magnificent signing for Spurs. He is among the world's top strikers and I feel he would prove a better asset to Spurs than Dimitar Berbatov would.

Liverpool to exchange duo for Villa captain

Liverpool are to exchange Peter Crouch and Paul Carson in exchange for Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry. (Daily Mirror)

Liverpool have made no secret of their interest in the England international in recent weeks and this deal is seen as an alternative to the £10 million offer Liverpool had rejected last month.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill has spoke of his determination to keep Barry at Villa Park in recent weeks. Crouch and Carson have both been linked with moves to Villa in recent weeks.

Both players have played with Villa before and it is now thought that both will be used in securing Barry's signature. I personally think this is a good deal for both sides and Villa should seriously consider it.

Liverpool to turn attentions to £12 million England winger

Liverpool may turn their attentions to Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing if their move for Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry falls through. (Daily Telegraph)

The England international has been linked with several moves away from Boro in recent months with Spurs also said to be keen on him.

Downing, 23, has been with Boro for over seven years now, progressing through the ranks. He has made over dozen appearances for England and is widely regarded as the country's best left-sided player.

I feel Downing is a player who blows hot and cold. I mean some weeks he is phenomenal, like the last weekend of the Premier League against Man City. Other weeks you don't even notice he is playing.

It is thought that Reds boss Rafa Benitez will have to pay Gareth Southgate at least £12 million to have any chance of landed the players signature.

Gunners target £12 million Premier League striker

Arsenal are preparing a £12 million summer move for Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz. (The Times)

Arsene Wenger is said to be in the market for a new front man this summer to partner Emmanuel Adebayor next season.

Santa Cruz, 26, only joined Blackburn last summer from German side Bayern Munich for a fee of £3.4 million.

The Paraguayan international has made a tremendous start to his Premier League career scoring just under 20 league goals.

I really do think Santa Cruz has what it takes to do well at a top side like Arsenal. He is a powerful striker that wins his fair share of headers and in my view would be a terrific signing at £12 million.

Liverpool close on £7 million Spaniard

Liverpool are closing in on the £7 million signing of Espanyol winger Albert Riera. (News of the World)

The Spanish international has previous Premier League experience in the shape of a season at Manchester City.

Riera, 26, recently made his international debut for Spain which has in turn attracted the attentions of Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez.

I personally didn't see much in Riera whilst he was at City. He was a decent left winger but that was all. I feel Liverpool need to set their sights higher than Riera if they want to challenge for the title next season.

Spurs target £12 million United striker

Tottenham have today expressed an interest in West Ham United striker Dean Ashton. (News of the World)

The Hammers striker is said to be unhappy at the club and is considering an exit from Upton Park this summer. It is thought West Ham boss Alan Curbishley will only listen to offers around the £12 million mark.

With Spurs set to lose Dimitar Berbatov in the summer to either Barcelona or Real Madrid, it is thought Juande Ramos is keen on bringing in the 24-year old England international.

I personally don't think Ashton has what it takes to replace Berbatov. I feel he is a good player at the best of times and would struggle to feature in Spurs' starting eleven every week.

Chelsea prepare move for Barca midfielder

Chelsea are preparing a summer move for Barcelona midfielder Deco, who has been told he can leave the club. (News of the World)

Deco has been with Barca for over three years now since joining from Portuguese side Porto. Before the move he was heavily linked with Chelsea.

The 30-year old has been told by Barca boss Frank Rijkaard that he can leave the club. Chelsea boss Avram Grant is said to be keen on bringing the Portuguese international to Stamford Bridge.

I don't really think Chelsea need a player like Deco. I mean he is good but I personally feel Chelsea have better players in that position already in Frank Lampard and Michael Ballack.

Gunners target £20 million Brazilian

Arsenal are preparing a £20 million summer bid for Werder Bremen attacking midfielder Diego. (Daily Mirror)

The Brazilian international has been linked with several moves to the Premier League in recent months as speculation mounts he will leave Bremen in the summer.

The 23-year old has been at bremen for over two years now since joining from Portuguese side FC Porto. He has over 30 caps for Brazil and is widely regarded as one of the Bundesliga's best players.

I personally would love to see Diego in the Premier League. He is a terrific talent that undoubtedly prove to be a tremendous signing for Arsene Wenger's side if he does indeed sign for them.

Arsenal and Liverpool to fight it out for £20 million French star

Arsenal and Liverpool are to fight it out for the signature of Marseille attacking midfielder Samir Nasri after the French club confirmed they may listen to offers. (Press Association)

The French international has been linked with a move to the Premier League for months now. The 20-year old is widely regarded as one of Europe's hottest properties.

Both Arsene Wenger and Rafa Benitez are said to be very keen on bringing to the player to their respective clubs this summer but it is likely to set them back at least £20 million.

Nasri is a terrific player with a lot of potential. He has made over 100 appearances for Marseille, has over a dozen caps for his country and is still on 20-year's old.

Liverpool to launch £10 million bid for French ace

Liverpool are to launch a £10 million bid for Chelsea winger Florent Malouda. (the sun)

The French international has had a poor first season in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge which has led to speculation he will move abroad.

But it appears as though now that Rafa Benitez is keen o bring him to Anfield. Liverpool were supposedly interested in the 27-year old before he joined Chelsea last summer.

I personally can't see why Benitez would wast £10 million on a player like Malouda. I am sure many Liverpool fans will agree with me when I say, Liverpool should not go for Malouda.

Rumours, Rumours Everywhere - Kaka linked to Barcelona

Kaka to barcelona? After a hugely disappointing season, it is not at all a surprise that Barcelona based dailies having already started speculation about which all are coming to the club. But this one was unexpected. Kaka is being linked to a move to Barcelona. El Sport have broken the story of a possible exchange, may be the biggest in any club's history which may involve Ronaldinho and Zambrotta and an additional 20 million Euros for the current world player of the year. This could be ideally another scoop by the daily to thrill their readers, as Milan have not yet showed the slightest hint of letting their hands off Kaka. Moreover they were trying to buy Ronaldinho in order to build a team which revolves around the two great Brazilians. There are indications that Barcelona might even place Deco on the discussion table to tempt Milan in to this move. Whatever, I have to admit that this is one rumour that I loved the most. I don't know whether he will come or not, but just the possibility of seeing Messi and Kaka together drives me crazy.

Another rumour, which could be turning to be true involves another Brazilian - Dani Alves.Barcelona after Dani AlvesIts absolute certain that Alves will be moving out of Sevilla this season, but the only question remains is where? Barcelona is rumoured to have tabled an offer for 25 million Euros. Last year Sevilla rejected a 36 million euro deal for him, but this year they might have to let him go as he is at the end of his contract. Sevilla will be trying to make as much as money from Alves who was bought for a mere €848,000. Real Madrid and Liverpool all are interested in him and that could make Barcelona's job tougher. Things will become more difficult if Chelsea or Manchester United enter the fray.

Another two guys who have been strongly linked to Barcelona is the French footballer of the year - Benezema and Huntelaar. Both of them are very aspiring prospects. But early indications suggest that Lyon will not let goo of Benezema that cheaply. Barcelona has to sell big in order to buy these guys. Then there is the interest in Capel and Lahm. But the worst story which is breaking out is a possible move of Eto to Tottenham. Eto is said to be unhappy about the way the Nou Camp crowd treated him last week. He was jeered whenever he got the ball and is looking for a move to premiership. Strong indications are coming about a possible offer for Messi from Chelsea. But Barcelona will not be in a mood to let him go. Ashley Cole has suggested that Messi is better than Ronaldo and would love to play along with him. Now we know why they are saying all these.

A Tribute To A Great Gentleman

ivy7y6aydmbrt8o5qo2z.jpgI cannot remember a person who has been ridiculed more than Frank Rijkaard in the last two years, on a second thought may be George Bush. With Real Madrid humiliating Barcelona, supporters and media are jointly after him. He could be the most hated person in Barcelona at this moment. With John Laporta announcing yesterday that Rijkaard will be replaced by Pep Guardiola from July 1st; now its time to pay homage to a great gentleman and a wonderful coach who has given us so much. If you give a thought to why he is being ridiculed so much, its all his own mistakes; yes he has done enough managerial blunders, used players in unimaginable positions but that's not what I am referring to. He gave us a team which after a long time was feared and respected across the world, especially in Europe. You want proof, look at the way Manchester United (the in form most attacking team of present) played against an out of form, out of sort Barcelona. If he is being ridiculed for his managerial skills, it’s because through his initial three seasons he made us forget all the failures of the past.

Rijkaard was a legend as a player. He started his career as a Central Defender at Ajax, moved to Sporting CP then to Real Zaragoza and from their to A C Milan. It was at Milan, Rijkaard became a legend at his favorite position of Holding Midfield. He has been an inspiration to a lot of Holding Midfield players like Vierra etc. His credentials as a player was never in question but his previous managerial records were. Prior to Barcelona he coached Sparta Rotterdam, where he earned the insane reputation of taking the club to relegation first time in his history. His coaching stint with Dutch national team was a much better one, leading the side to Euro 200 semi finals. Hence, when Barcelona gave him the job in 2003-04 season there were pretty huge noises around him. Rijkaard bought Ronaldinho and Edgar Davids that season, but the rest of the squad consisted of many under achieving players who had failed to win a trophy since 1999. Those who are too critical about Rijkaard's two trophies less season should remember that this is not the first time we are suffering this. That season’s start was disappointing with many in media and fans asking for his resignation. Laporta has to be commended here for not listening to the media, particularly when the team was so close to the relegation zone. Those times ESPNSTAR never telecasted Spanish La Liga in India and the only way I could follow the game was through internet. It was heart breaking to get up every morning and read how bad your team performed. But in the second half of the season Rijkaard turned around the club. The team started wining one after another and finished second with a terrific win at Bernabeu. Still remember the Xavi goal set up by Ronaldinho in the dying moments. The next season he would completely revamped team, the old guards were let off and new players were bought in. Players like Deco, Eto, Edmillson, and Marquez combined well with Ronaldinho to win two consecutive La Liga title. The next season he became the only coach to win twice at Bernabeu when Ronaldinho destroyed Madrid. This was a feat even the likes of Cryuff, Van Gaal, Aragones could not achieve. That year he gave the most beautiful present for a Barcelona fan - the Champions League success. Frank Rijkaard with his coaching style turned Barcelona to the most respected side in history. The next two seasons was terrible with winning no trophies. I would attribute it to a lack of effort by players and blunders made by Rijkaard.

As a player Rijkaard was a very temperamental. He once even spat at Rudi Voller. But as a manager he was clam and stable. Even when he had to encounter the bad boy of football - Mourinho, he displayed unbelievable grace. In an era the basic understanding of coaching is mental destruction of opponents by pre press conference sledging, he conducted himself very well. He gave respect to his opponents, event though I believed in last two season he made a habit of taking small clubs lightly. He gave us two La Liga and One Champions league title; but his greatest achievement is the encouragement he gave to the youngsters who came out of Youth academy. He gave enough chance to youngsters; if he could not deliver a Copa Del Rey trophy it was mainly due to the fact that he saw that as a stepping stone for youngsters to the big football. In his time the likes of Messi, Iniesta, Bojan, and Giovani all came out of the youth academy. Every Barcelona fans now looks forward very enthusiastically towards club’s youth system. His last two seasons were not that great, actually terrible if we go by the first three seasons. But no one can deny the fact that he was among the most successful coach Barcelona has ever seen. When you consider this has happened with the likes of Van Gaal, Wenger, Ferguson; you have to accept that there is nothing unnatural in these failures. He might have been a little lenient in training and this could have led to his downfall. But have to sympathize with him because the same approach was giving results the earlier season. Now it’s the time to move on - for both Rijkaard and the Club. It's a responsibility for each Barcelona fans to farewell him with respect he deserved. So keep your white Handkerchiefs in the pocket and get up on your feet and applaud this wonderful gentleman and wish him all the success for the future.

As a Barcelona fan I have only one thing to say
"Thank You Frank, You've been Fabulous."

Madrid Humiliate Barcelona; R.Madrid-4, Barca-1

Madrid Humiliates BarcelonaThe humiliation of applauding Madrid players on to the pitch turned out to be minute, in comparison of the humiliation suffered in the match. Madrid destroyed Barcelona with a great all round performance. The final score line is a great injustice to Madrid, yes I mean what I said - they should have won the match by a dozen goals or so. Victor Valdez should be credited with keeping the Madrid score line to just four. This Classico was built up as a last attempt by Barcelona players to restore some pride; instead the Barcelona players were not at all interested. El Classico stature came from the fact that it is the ultimate clash between two Titans - but yesterday Madrid played like a real Champion, but Barcelona's performance resembled a team which has just been promoted to first division. But the most terrible part was to see Rijkaard sitting in his seat devastated by his players performance. He has given so much to the club, he deserved a better performance. Actually its better for him that he leave this season, as this bunch of players will not stand and fight for him.

Barcelona started with Marquez partnering Puyol. Thuram should have started instead of Marquez, Gudjonsen cam in midfield with Bojan, Henry and Messi upfront. Real Madrid settled down pretty quickly and had their first shot on target in the first minute when Robben curling kick was caught by Valdez. Then in the 6th minute Valdez tried to be smart and almost gave a way the ball to the opposition in the box - he was trying to round off Raul. In the 13th minute, Raul scores after a quick exchange of passes between Sneijder, Robben and Guti. Barcelona can consider themselves lucky for the referee overlooking the foul by Guti on Marquez, but whatever that finish from Raul was simply outstanding. He curled the ball past Valdez. Then in the 17th minute, Valdez gave another scare when he spilled a good long range shot from Gago towards Raul, but he managed to somehow grab it the second time. In the 21st minute referee gave a free kick for a non existing foul by Abidal on Guti. Guti's resulting free kick was directed into the net by Robben, who simply ran across the goal mouth without getting picked up by a defender. What pathetic marking! Rijkaard tried to instill some spirit by bringing on Giovani instead of Gudjonsen. After the second Goal Messi understood that he is not going to get any support from his team mate and tried to up the tempo all by himself. That resulted in a free kick just outside the box for a foul on Messi; but as usual Henry shot that wide. In the 32nd minute, Giovani shot wide from outside the box. Casillas cannot be blamed if he has started a taking a nap by this time, he never saw the ball. Then in the 34th minute Valdez puts across an excellent save to deny Guti. Next up was Robben's turn, he turned the entire defense inside out in the box but Valdez brought in another wonderful save to deny him also. In the 45th minute Bojan wins free kick again just outside the box only for Xavi to waste it. The first half story was simple - Madrid outplayed Barcelona in every field. May be that is an exaggeration, Madrid played and Barcelona players watched that was the truth.

Everyone hoped to see a different second half. Sylvinho was brought in place of Marquez but nothing changed. In the 54th minute Puyol's and Sylvinho's terrific intervention denies Madrid of a third goal. Sylvinho gets hurt in that process and had to be replaced by Edmillson. In the 63rd minute Higuain put Madrid three nil up, when he converted from an excellent pass from Diarra. In the 69th minute Valdez brings in another save to deny this time Marcello. But then in the 77th minute referee gave a penalty to Madrid for Puyol handling the ball that was again a bit harsh. Van Nistel Rooy scores the penalty and that was his 50th league goal for Madrid. In the 80th minute Robinho who was brought in after half time makes fun of the entire Barcelona defense with his trademark step overs. Again like the last ten minute in the first half, Messi single handedly tried to challenge Madrid. in the 81st minute Messi was denied by a terrific save by Casillas. In the 86th minute Messi was again denied by Casillas after an excellent run into the box. Then in the next minute Messi provides an inch perfect through ball from which Henry scores the consolation goal for Barcelona. In the injury time Xavi picks up a second yellow card and gets himself eliminated.

With this performance and Villareal's victory early in the night, Barcelona made sure that they have to play the qualifications for the nextb season's Champions League. This timid performance also saw Victor Valdez being toppled from the top of Zamorra table deservingly by Casillas. To a great extent, this humiliation was necessary, but cannot stop sympathizing with Rijkaard. Messi needs to step up his game, more importantly understand that he alone sometimes have to turn the matches. Whenever he tried to step up the tempo all by him Madrid looked uncomfortable.
