Kevin Nolan scored a brace to give a comfortable win over Reading in the midweek action ofthe English Championship match. He opened the scoring in the 20th minute of the match with a crisp finish, Magpies had chances to increase the lead before halftime but they were unable to make good use of them, but nolan made sure that they go into the break with a good lead of two goals as he scored just before the break to make things easy for the away side. Simpson scored a own goal which gave Newcastle a late scare but they hold on to their lead.
