Transfer window latest 31st Jan 2011

Football Transfers 2011

Well A LOT has happened in the Premier League transfer window since my last blog. Robbie Keane signed for West Ham instead of Birmingham. Birmingham have snapped up Keane, Bent has started well for Villa (£24m), huge amounts of money are about to move about with Torres moving to Chelsea, Andy Carroll eyeing up a dream move to Anfield and ... all eyes are on Charlie Adam as Ian Holloway looks to maximise the potential transfer fee.

Interesting to see Blackburn Rovers signing for the future with the acquisition of Ruben Rochina from Barcelona. Daniel Sturridge going to the Reebok is also a buy demonstrating ambition from Bolton Wanderers. It will be nice to see ex-Pompey star Sulley Muntari back in the Premier League playing for Sunderland as his spell in Milan comes to an end...again, cracking business by Steve Bruce.

All eyes were on Anfield this evening with Suarez and Carroll both moving to play under ex-Red player/manager Kenny Dalglish.

Abramovic's Chelsea have shown aggression and competitiveness in this 2011 transfer window - Luiz and Torres must take the Blues forward after their slump in the Prem which appears to be over.

I could go on, with so many mouth watering signings cracking off in this allstars competition that is the Premier League. Lots of loan deals in this transfer window!

At January 31st 10pm, this is my key transfer update in the Barclays Premiership:

Arsenal - no players signed
Aston Villa - Bent
Birmingham - O Martins, Bentley (loan)
Blackburn - Santa Cruz, Rochina, Formica
Blackpool - James Beattie, A Reid
Bolton - David Wheater, Sturridge
Chelsea - Fernando Torres, Luiz
Everton - Dier

Man City - Dzeko
Man Utd - Lindegaard
Newcastle - Stephen Ireland
Stoke - Pennant, Carew
Sunderland - S Muntari
Tottenham - Pienaar
West Brom -
West Ham - Wayne Bridge, Robbie Keane (loan)
Wolves - J O'Hara (loan)

Good luck to 'Arry tonight - Aguero for £38m was turned down but you are the absolute transfer market master!!

Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas slated on Twitter by Huddersfield’s Pilkington

Soccer Extreme : Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas has been notable on Twitter lately and we’ve already posted an article involving Fabregas teasing a teammate about his hair on Twitter, and also recently told how Fabregas was on the receiving end of some praise from Rio Ferdinand on his Twitter account.

Now though it seems as though Fabregas is on the receiving end of some Twitter criticism instead, from Huddersfield’s Anthony Pilkington. It followed the Arsenal encounter with Huddersfield in an F.A. Cup round, which was a rather eventful match. It saw Sebastien Squillaci sent off and then Arsenal gaining a penalty from an incident involving Nicholas Bendtner appearing to have been pushed over by Jamie McCombe, according to a report by Ted Thornhill over on Metro.

Fabregas incited the rage of Huddersfield’s fans when he appeared to be trying to get the referee to send off McCombe by waving an imaginary red card at him. Fabregas then converted the penalty that saw Arsenal win 2-1. It was not exactly a good-natured game but events after the final whistle led to Hudderfield Town’s Anthony Pilkington accusing Fabregas of disrespecting two of his teammates by refusing to swap shirts. Pilkington then accused Fabregas on Twitter saying, “2 lads asked him for his shirt and he told them to f*ck off!! Sick player but what a tit!”

Arsenal countered the claims by saying that Fabregas had in fact given two of his shirts to opposing team members and Pilkington has now shut his Twitter account down and apologized. If you want to read more about the Arsenal vs. Huddersfield game then head to the match report on BBC Sport. (onlinesocialmedia)

Rooney tipped for Hollywood career

Soccer Extreme : Mexican movie director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu is eager to see British soccer star Wayne Rooney swap the pitch for the big screen, insisting the sports star will "have a good Hollywood career" once he hangs up his boots.

The Biutiful filmmaker worked alongside the English national player on a Nike commercial as part of last year's (10) World Cup tournament.

He reckons Rooney could follow the path of Vinnie Jones and Eric Cantona into movies once his playing days are over.

In the series of clips, Rooney had to take on several different roles and Inarritu was so impressed with the 25 year old's acting abilities he wants to help him launch a film career once he quits soccer.

The Oscar-nominated director tells Britain's The Sun, "Wayne Rooney was super-comfortable with the camera. I said to him, 'I will offer you a role once you are a little older and you are done with football.' He will have a good Hollywood career, I'm sure.

"Wayne is a natural. He's from the streets and has a warrior appeal that could serve him well in movies." (thesun)

Liverpool want Newcastle United forward Andy Carroll

Soccer Extreme : Roy Hodgson is rumoured to be considering an ambitious swoop for Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll as news filters through about a number of St James’ Park players who are unhappy with the sacking of Chris Hughton.

There is talk of a potential dressing room revolt following the axing of Hughton and Roy Hodgson, who is on the look out for new attacking options, is apparently readying a potential move for the England International. The 21 year old Gateshead born front man may have only recently signed a new five year deal but he is so angered by Mike Ashley’s decision to sack a manager who had the respect of the entire dressing room and as a result may consider leaving the north-east club.

Liverpool are very keen to bring in new striking options that will help take the goalscoring burden off the shoulders of goal machine Fernando Torres and a move for Carroll would be a very wise one, not least because he could well be an excellent foil for the Spaniard.

Andy Carroll has had a good season thus far scoring nine goals to follow up from his useful return of 19 goals last term. Mike Ashley is also rumoured to be looking to offload a player or two to help balance the club’s books and the powerfully built striker is thought to be their most bankable asset and is valued at around £15m a fee that Liverpool’s new owners NESV would probably be more than happy to pay given the potential shown by the youngster who won his first senior England cap last month against France. US striker Findley completes move to Nottingham Forest

Soccer Extreme : American striker Robbie Findley has received international clearance to sign with second-tier English club Nottingham Forest on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old Findley, who opted to leave Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake last year at the end of his contract, has secured a visa that allows him to play in England.

The striker has signed a 2 1/2 -year contract with Forest, which is in fifth place in the League Championship standings.

Findley was a member of the U.S. World Cup squad in South Africa, starting three of the team’s four matches. (yahoo)

US midfielder Bradley join to Aston Villa

Soccer Extreme : American midfielder Michael Bradley is taking a physical and close to joining Premier League club Aston Villa on loan.

The 23-year-old son of U.S. coach Bob Bradley is set to join the central England club until the end of the season from Germany’s Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Bradley could then sign a permanent contract if he impresses manager Gerard Houllier.

Houllier says Bradley “is 23 and a very hardworking midfielder who can score goals.”

Villa has already signed Darren Bent, Jean Makoun and on-loan Kyle Walker during the January transfer window. (yahoo)

(Video) : Robben Punches Muller

Soccer Extreme : Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal and captain Philipp Lahm have played down an altercation between Arjen Robben and Thomas Mueller after the team's 3-1 Bundesliga victory at Werder Bremen on Saturday.

The Dutch winger Robben is said to have grabbed World Cup top scorer Mueller by the throat after the final whistle, allegedly disgusted that Mueller made a disparaging gesture after he executed a late free-kick poorly which he did not want Mueller to take.

'I really hate it when the players throw up their arms in such a way on the pitch. That is not respectful and we shouldn't be doing that,' said Robben.

Anatoly Tymoshchuk separated the two players. Mueller did not comment while Lahm said the issue would only be discussed internally.

Van Gaal said he didn't see what exactly Robben did but said that player should discuss issues.

'It is common in the Netherlands that we argue and speak out what is on our mind. There is a different culture in Germany,' van Gaal said.

The issue made more headlines on Sunday in the German media than the 3-1 victory with which Munich climbed into third place in the league. Robben only returned to action a fortnight ago from a hamstring injury which had sidelined him since July. (AFP)

Hercules Tried, But Did You?

The upcoming Real Madrid defender David Mateos was banging heavily on hercules hurting FC Barcelona on the Saturday night. The truth was Hercules definitely tried, they played well, were very organised but this Barca side was too muchb for them to handle in the end. But the question in everybody's mind is whether the newly promoted recruit from Real Madrid B team was expecting too much from his senior side to keep on the tail of this exceptional Barcelona side. I have been to a particular Real Madrid blog sometimes back and it looked like they were banging heavily on Kaka's return to instill the momentum to take the quest forward. But at this moment his return looks like has done more damage than good to the side from the Capital.

The match against osasuna was quite difficult for Real Madrid, made tougher by an absolutely physical opposition and an aggressive crowd with some strange naughty acts. Was the opposition's efficieny the only reason for the Real Madrid defeat? No not at all. When you are a side assembled at more than 250 million dollars you ahve to find a way to get past those. The bigger problem for Real Madrid has been the lack of a definitive formation. Cristiano Ronaldo was the one who carried the Madrid hopes in recent times and he struggling in last three matches is very good news for us. But it is so surprising to see Madrid struggling big time whenever Xabi Alonso is taken off. Mourinho has a huge job in his hand and he could better write off La Liga title hopes. Not because Barca will not drop any points, we may but so do Real Madrid.

Meanwhile the Hercules match was a very tough test for our boys. And they came out of it with flying colours. We were focussed and determined to continue on the winning run. The win also said a lot about the character of the squad. The narrow pitch, actually the narrowest in La Liga gave a good test for Barca. Its tests like these which will prepare us well for the gruelling campaign in Europe. Iniesta did gave us a scare having getting injured in the match. As per the Barca website, Iniesta has suffered a grade 1 sprain on the AC joint of his left upper back. No i have no idea of this but a Grade 1 usually is a bad description. But considering that this is a sprain in the back, Iniesta should be fine to continue spearhead our midfield. He is sure to be missing in the match against Almeria but we have to wait and see whether he will miss the visit of Athletico Madrid.

Jennifer Aniston to Go Topless

Soccer Extreme : Director Judd Aptrow loved working with Jennifer Aniston on his upcoming comedy 'Wanderlust', in which the actress has apparently gone topless.

Aptrow said that Aniston, 41, was "just easy" on the flick''s set."That''s why people like her and like working with her so much," UsMagazine.com quoted Aptrow as saying at Saturdays'' Producers Guild Awards in L.A.

"She''s always been an incredibly, funny person. She really is what she appears to be. She is just a great person who really is skilled at what she does and is hilarious!," he said.
The comedy film, set to be released this October, features Aniston and onscreen husband Paul Rudd getting into some R-rated shenanigans -- a nudist, hallucinogenic drugs and more -- when they mistake a hippie commune for a bed and breakfast.

(Highlights Video), Inter Milan 3 - 2 Palermo

Soccer Extreme : Substitute Giampaolo Pazzini scored twice and won a penalty on a dream debut as Serie A champions Internazionale roared back from 2-0 down to beat visiting Palermo 3-2 on Sunday.

In one of the best matches of the season, fourth-placed Inter found themselves trailing to first-half goals from Fabrizio Miccoli and Antonio Nocerino despite dominating.

Pazzini, signed on Friday, was thrown on at the break and soon scored with a superb turn-and-shot before Palermo’s Javier Pastore had a penalty saved by fit-again Julio Cesar.

Leaping like a salmon for a trademark goal, Pazzini then planted a bullet header into the bottom corner from Maicon’s free kick and Samuel Eto’o completed the victory from the spot 14 minutes from time after Pazzini was pulled back.

(Video) : Osasuna shock Madrid (1-0)

Soccer Extreme : Real Madrid CF remain seven points adrift of Liga leaders FC Barcelona following a 1-0 loss at CA Osasuna.

Madrid, who had previously lost only one league game under José Mourinho – 5-0 at Barcelona in November – succumbed to Javier Camunas's cool finish past Iker Casillas on 62 minutes. That proved enough for Osasuna to record a first Liga victory in nine attempts and send them three points clear of the relegation zone.

Third-placed Villarreal CF are now just six points off Madrid, Giuseppe Rossi scoring the only goal on the stroke of half-time in their victory against RCD Espanyol. The Merengues's city rivals Club Atlético de Madrid also tasted defeat, losing 2-0 at home against Athletic Club. Gaizka Toquero struck both goals for Joaquín Caparrós's side, who are up to sixth, five points. (UEFA)

Fàbregas rescues Arsenal but City held

Soccer Extreme : Arsenal FC needed a late Cesc Fàbregas penalty to beat Huddersfield Town FC in the FA Cup fourth round, but Manchester City FC were held 1-1 by fellow third tier side Notts County FC.

Arsenal FC reached the FA Cup fourth round thanks to a late Cesc Fàbregas penalty against third-tier side Huddersfield Town FC.

Arsenal went in front through a Peter Clarke own goal midway through the first half but were pegged back by Alan Lee's 66th-minute equaliser, after Sébastien Squillaci had been shown red for the hosts just before the interval. Captain Fàbregas came off the bench and subsequently dispatched the winner from the spot with four minutes remaining.

North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur FC – depleted by the early dismissal of Michael Dawson – lost 4-0 to Fulham FC, with Danny Murphy scoring two penalties of his own. Harry Redknapp's side were not the only Premier League outfit to struggle, with Manchester City FC held 1-1 at Notts County FC of the third division. Edin Džeko bundled in an equaliser with ten minutes left to register his first goal for the club.

Elsewhere, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC missed a late penalty in a 1-0 home loss to Stoke City FC and West Ham United FC beat Nottingham Forest FC 3-2. (UEFA)

Preview Match : Real Madrid have a real task on their hands to catch Barcelona and it is a task that has been not made easy by the trip to Osasuna. Even though Osasuna lie in the 17th position in the Primera Division, they have always proved to be the thorn for Real Madrid. The four point gap between Barcelona and Real Madrid could be widened to seven points if Barcelona manages to win against Hercules on Saturday. Because of Osasuna's record against Real Madrid, a number of Real Madrid players have been speaking about the difficulty of the game. So, one can expect a pretty determined Madrid performance on Sunday.

The biggest worry for Osasuna at this time is not facing Real Madrid, but preventing themselves from slipping into the bottom three. The club recently was defeated in La Liga and that pushed them into the 17th position and more worryingly, a number of teams around them have started to pick up points. Osasuna’s defenders will be most likely be facing Emmanuel Adebayor instead of Karim Benzema after the Togo international was signed by Madrid, on-loan from Manchester City. Pepe and Gonzalo Higuain are the two biggest misses for José Mourinho's team at the moment.

We hope The fans of both team can enjoy with the live score, Juventus vs Udinese preview, recaps and highlights here. So where can i watch Juventus vs Udinese live online video streaming free?

Preview Match : Red-hot Udinese travel to Turin to face Juventus looking to edge closer to the Champions League qualifying places.

It took a while for coach Francesco Guidolin and the Friuli men to find their rhythm this season but now they are riding a four-match unbeaten streak and go into the game at the Olympic stadium in eighth place - four points adrift of Lazio who are fourth.
Udinese go into this weekend's game full of confidence on the back of a 3-1 triumph over Inter Milan last weekend.

That result followed their 4-2 victory at Genoa and their 4-4 draw against AC Milan earlier this year.

The recent success has fuelled hopes among Udinese's passionate fans that they could finish in the top four come the end of the season and play in Europe's elite club competition.

"The fans have a right to dream," said Guidolin. "The important thing is that we don't fall asleep and we continue to play in this manner."

Their attacking record has been key to Udinese's impressive form, with 13 goals scored in their last four league games.

Juve, meanwhile, look to make amends for their midweek 2-0 defeat to Roma that knocked them out of the Coppa Italia.

The result was a bitter blow for Juve fans, with the club having almost waved goodbye to any hopes of getting silverware this season.

The Bianconeri were eliminated from the Europa League competition before the winter break and last weekend's goalless draw at Sampdoria dropped the Turin giants nine points behind Serie A leaders AC Milan.

"We are going through a difficult time but we must work hard and look ahead to the league, which is the only aim that remains for us," said manager Luigi Del Neri, whose side lie sixth, two points clear of Udinese.

Juve, who are level on 35 points with Inter, strengthened their defensive line this week with the arrival of Andrea Barzagli from Wolfsburg.

Barzagli is expected to feature against Udinese but the hosts are still without injured striker Vincenzo Iaquinta.

Preview Match : Giampaolo Pazzini (pic) could make his Inter Milan debut in this afternoon’s Serie A clash with Palermo.

Nerazzurri boss Leonardo swooped for Pazzini this week, bringing him to the Italian champions from Sampdoria, and could hand him an immediate bow should the 26-year-old overcome an ankle problem.

And Inter defender Marco Materazzi believes Pazzini can play a key role in helping the team hold on to the scudetto, although they are nine points behind current leaders AC Milan heading into today’s games.

Materazzi said: “Pazzini is someone that has no fear of defenders. When he is on the pitch he makes life difficult for any defender.

“I'm very happy he is here because he is a great player.”

Inter Milan will be hoping to bounce back from last weekend’s disappointing 3-1 defeat at Udinese that ended their recent good form, while Palermo enter this game on the back of a 1-0 win over Brescia.

Fan shows off big tattoo's Manchester United

Soccer Extreme
: Manchester United fan John Retter is backing his Old Trafford idols all the way with this huge tattoo.

Trucker John, 51, paid nearly £1,000 to have the Red Devils' crest etched.

The work took 16 hours and he spent the time reading boss Sir Alex Ferguson's biography to take his mind off the pain.

But John, who never misses a game on TV, insists it was worth the discomfort to have the tattoo that covers most of his back.

:: Relation Post : Tattooed Hotspurs's Blurbs

He said: "It's a brilliant badge with so much history. I'm proud to wear it."

Referring to the club's famously rivalry with Liverpool, John, of Paignton, Devon, added: "As soon as the sun's out, I'll be flaunting it on the beach - although I'll probably get chased by a load of Scousers."

His partner Liz Brady, 44, said: "I think it looks great."

Tattooist Tony Gallon said: "It's the biggest football badge I've ever had to do." (thesun)

WAG : Ayumi Lee, Tadanari's Girlfriend

Soccer Extreme : A jubilant Tadanari Lee said on Saturday he always knew he would one day be the hero after scoring the goal that handed Japan a record fourth AFC Asian Cup title.

The 25-year-old has only played twice for Japan and had never scored before, but he finished like a veteran in the 109th minute after the final against Australia finished deadlocked 0-0 in 90 minutes.

"I feel super. I could not play for such a long time and I had to keep on waiting, believing that there would be a chance for me," said the Sanfrecce Hiroshima player.

This goal celebration became's hot topic and also received praise from many people and especially Korean football fans. Tadanari Lee is also in a relationship with Japanese singer Ayumi Lee, also known as ICONIQ.

Ahyoomee or Ayumi Lee or ICONIQ (born Ayumi Ito (Ito Ayumi) in Japan, August 25, 1984, from former Korean girl-group Sugar, was born as the third generation Korean resident and raised in Japan for much of her younger life and is the reason for her Japanese accent, although she is now fluent in both languages. Although Ayumi's name is commonly believed to be Japanese in origin, she has explained that her name is hanja-based. She has also attended Korea Kent Foreign School.

Career, Ayumi stated on the 66th episode of SBS's Xman that she was discovered at a H.O.T. concert. The singer debuted in 2002 as part of the girl group Sugar, contributing to their 3 Korean and 2 Japanese albums.

She has recently branched out as a solo artist, releasing two digital singles. The first, a cover of the theme song for Cutie Honey (also covered by Kumi Koda), came out on July 13, 2006 with a lot of fanfare, as Ayumi was criticized for her heavy accent and the overall Japanese feel of performances on the various Korean music shows.

Her second digital single, "Jalmotdwen Mannam" ("Wrongful Meeting") was released on November 7, 2006, and is a cover of Kim Gun Mo's hit from 1995. She switched labels in early 2007, moving to SM Entertainment.

She released her debut Japanese single, "I'm Lovin' You" on December 9, 2009 under her new alias, ICONIQ.

Revenge Sweet Revenge - Herceules - 0, Barca - 3

FC Barcelona managed to extract a sweet revenge on Hercules CF with a 3-0 victory away from home. Yes, it was yet another record night. Now we have equalled the record for most consecutive wins in La Liga. A first half goal from Pedro and two late goals from Lionel Messi gave us the 15th consecutive victory of the season. Guardiola lined up a defense consisiting of Alves, Pique, Abidal and Maxwell. The midfield as expected had Iniesta, Xavi and Busquets. The front trio was the usual one containing Villa, Messi and Pedro. Royson Drenthe was left out of starting eleven for Hercules.

In the 4th minute Xavi Hernandez had our first shot after Messi laid off the ball to him. But the attempt went way wide of the far post. In the 8th minute Villa and Messi played a neat one - two but Messi's final shot from a very tight angle was easy for the keeper to save. In the 11th minute Messi dragged another shot wide of the post after Pedro latched onto some poor clearance from hercules defenders. In the 15th minute Pedro had his shot from the edge of box tipped over. The resultant corner was a heck of a moment inside Hercules box. Dani Alves danced inside the the box and found Busquets who could have and should have gone for the goal, instead tried to pass it to Messi giving time for Hercules to re-group. In the 21st minute we had the biggest scare of the night when Nelson Valdes managed to get at the end of a long ball and played the ball to Trezuguet, who failed to finish. Both of our centre-backs was sucked out of position by the long ball.

Half an hour gone we were struggling to create straight forward chances. We had some decent half chances but Hercules was defending like their lives depend on it. Lionel Messi was having one of the worst first half I have evr seen. His first touches were constantly deserting him and was quite ineffective. In the 41st minute Pedro send in a great ball from the right to Messi in the box, once again his first touch took the ball away from him. Had he controlled that, would have been the first goal. In the 43rd minute Pedro broke the deadloack when Xavi found him unmarked in the right side inside the box. The build up included both Messi and Iniesta trying to run inside the box, but the rebound went to xavi who picked Pedro perfectly. That goal could be one of the most important he scored this season.

In the 48th minute Villa cut inside on the edge of box but dragged the shot just wide of the near post. In the 50th minute Xavi saw his shot go wide from the edge of the box. Hercules was trying to utilize the height advantage of their two forwards - Trezeguet and Nelson Valdes, and it was kind of working also. In the 64th minute Pedro had a goal disallowed for offside. In the 68th minute Busquets played a delightful ball to Messi in the box, who turned well but put the ball just wide of the post. The very next minute he had another shot going wide. In the 76th minute Lionel Messi saw his great shot from the edge of box saved by the keeper. In the 82nd minute we had another scare when Maxwell took it wasy on the left, but Abidal did well to save the blues. In the 84th minute Villa wasted a great oppurtunity to seal the match whe he failed to control a great ball from Pedro on the break. In the 87th minute Messi finished off the match after skipping away from a number of challenges and then finishing it into the right corner. To that moment he had a very, very poor match. In the 89th minute Messi scored yet another. Messi as usual lost the ball inside the box, Nolito who came as a substitute a minute before picked the rebound and found Iniesta, who found Alves on the right who crossed into the box to find Messi.

This victory was quite a struggle for us. The tireless defending from Hercules made the night very difficult, but it was hugely contributed by a host of players having an average game. Messi despite scoring two goals was the worst of all the attacking players. Villa was missing, Iniesta had an On-Off game. Pedro was briliant, Abidal, Busquets and Pique was solid but the Man of the Mathc for me was Xavi Hernandez. I have to admit that this victory gave me so much pleasure. Not because it was kind of revenge, not because Real Madrid was really banking on this match, because this was a match which resembled a surgical operation being performed. We kept on hitting again and again till we succeeded. So the pressure is back very much on Real Madrid, who has a seven point lead to catch up.

Hercules vs Barcelona Live Stream - 29 January 2011

This Barcelona team is becoming one of the best ever squads in the history of the Barca, as they are just keep winning matches and scoring great number of goals, most of the times their final scored are like Tennis scores which makes an interesting reading. Their front three players who are in form fo their lives and very hard to keep quite at the moment are Villa, Pedro and Messi. Although Cristiano Ronaldo is leading the Scoring Charts while Messi and Villa are close behind him with 2nd and 3rd position.

Hercules defeated Barcelon earlier in the season when they went to Camp Nou and got a great win over Barca which we have to admit very hard now. Barcelona will be eager to brush of that defeat and take a revenge in this one and I can expect easy three points against Hercules FC on Saturday Night.

Please bookmark the page and comeback 10-15 minutes before it all starts on the night, we will be placing the live streaming linsk of the match here.

Japan The Winner Asian Cup 2011

Soccer Extreme : Japan has dashed Australia's dreams of clinching a maiden Asian Cup title by defeating the Socceroos 1-0 in extra time in the final in Qatar.

A stunning left-footed volley from substitute Tadanari Lee broke the deadlock on 109 minutes and the Australians were unable to equalise and force penalty kicks.

Australia has now been dumped by Japan from its only two Asian Cup appearances, having lost on penalties at the quarter-finals stage in 2007.

Japan's triumph at the Khalifa Stadium in Doha gave the Blue Samurai their fourth Asian Cup title, making them the most successful team in tournament history.

The Japanese previously won the Asian Cup in 1992, 2000 and 2004.

Liverpool FC Reject Torres Transfer Request

Soccer Extreme : Liverpool FC just cannot stay out of the news at the moment, if they aren’t sacking managers or having their players being fined for things they said on Twitter then they are signing stars like Luis Suarez.

The belief was that the new striker Luis Suarez would be brought in to partner the Spanish sensation Fernando Torres who has been having a tough season so far. During the week we heard reports that Chelsea had made a bid for the World Cup winner and of course Liverpool promptly rejected the offer for their talismanic forward figure.

Following on from that, we also heard that Torres had asked Liverpool to listen to offers from Chelsea for him. The latest news is that Torres has handed in a written transfer request from Liverpool. This will spark the interest of a whole host of clubs, not just in the Barclays Premiership but also in his homeland Spain. You can read more about his stats since he was at Liverpool from the BBC Sport webpage.

We all know what happens when something this big happens, social media sites go nuts, and Facebook pages get created pleading with the star to stay. Once these pages start trending in Twitter you have to wonder if the star actually takes note of all the activity. You can keep up with Liverpool’s latest news on their website. Check out this search page for some of the messages that people are posting, on their Twitter pages.

Do you think Torres will go? Is it fair for Liverpool to keep him at the club if he is unhappy? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below. (onlinesocialmedia)

Prediction Asian Cup Finals 2011, Australia vs Japan is Penalty

Extra time is required to determine the 2011 Asian Cup champion after Australia and Japan were deadlocked at 0-0 at the conclusion of regulation time in the final.

Harry Kewell had the best of Australia's chances, squandering clear-cut opportunities either side of half-time at the Khalifa Stadium in Qatar.

In the first half he lashed a flick-on from strike partner Tim Cahill high and wide of the target, and was thwarted by the trailing leg of Japan goalkeeper in the second half.

Eiji Kawashima was close to best-on-ground over the course of 90 minutes and Japan had him to thank for blocking Kewell with the pair one-on-one in the 71st minute.

Extra time is played over two halves of 15 minutes each and a penalty shoot-out will then take place should the scores remain locked.
