Alcaraz opened the scoring for the North American side just before the half time with a close range header from the set piece. It was not a surprise as Italy could not get off into their ryhthem in the opening moment s of the match and Paraguay team looked dangerous on counter Attacks. After the half time Marcelo lippi made a few changes in the formation and that duly paid off when De Rossi equalised in the 64th minute of the match. Paraguay always looked dangerous on the break but Italy started to play their game after getting to the level terms.
