His absence was singled out as one of the key reasons Rovers lost against Liverpool and his presence in the back four is key to the side maintaining their reputation for being miserly. But Drogba has shown that he can not only turn on the style to score – as he did against Arsenal – he can mix it with the most robust defences if necessary.
Form guide: Blackburn have been solid if not spectacular at home, with a loss against Arsenal their only defeat so far. But their Monday night stalemate against Sunderland showed they are unlikely to trouble the top-scoring charts come the season's end. Chelsea, meanwhile have not won on the road in the league since early September's trouncing of West Ham. Since then they lost at Manchester City and played out a goalless draw against Aston Villa.
