Everton are closing in on £12 million Liverpool target Albert Riera. The Espanyol midfielder has been linked with a move to Liverpool all summer long after Rafa Benitez admitted his interest in the Spanish international, but not David Moyes is in the market for Riera. (Guardian)The 26-year old has already tasted life in the Premier League with Manchester City a few years back, where he spent an unsuccessful year long loan at Eastlands. Liverpool were told by Espanyol they would have to up their bid for Riera to £19 million, a price which saw Benitez cool his interest in the player.
It is understood now that the La Liga club are willing to listen to offers for the player and Everton are now preparing a £12 million bid for the former Bordeaux man. I personally feel Riera would be a total waste of money. He was extremly average at City and I think Everton would be better off going for someone like Joao Moutinho.
