Spurs to outbid Arsenal and Chelsea for £18 million playmaker

Tottenham are tonight to launch an £18 million bid for Zenit St Petersburg play maker Andrei Arshavin. The Russian international has attracted interest from all over Europe after his terrific European Championships, with Barcelona, Chelsea and Arsenal all linked with the player in recent weeks.

The 27-year old admitted it was his dream to play for Barcelona but since those remarks a few weeks back, his agent has claimed he would also be interested in a move to the Premier League. Arshavin also starred in Zenit's successful UEFA Cup campaign last season and it is understood that Zenit will hold out for as much as £24 million for the player.

Arshavin would be a tremendous signing for Spurs. He is such a talent and I am sure every Spurs fan will be hoping and praying that they can lure him to White Hart Lane. With Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane linked with exits, Spurs really need to start signings some top quality players and Arshavin would certainly fit the bill.
