Arsenal to sign Japanese Ryo Miyaichi in January

Soccer Extreme : Arsenal Football Club have announced their first signing of the Winter Transfer Window in unheralded Japanese youth international Ryo Miyaichi.

The 18-year old youth international becomes the second Japanese player to sign for the Gunners, following in the footsteps of Junichi Inamoto. Inamoto joined Arsenal in the 2001-02 season from Gamba Osaka, but failed to command a first team place in a highly competitive Gunners midfield. He played just 4 games for Arsenal before heading out to London rivals Fulham. Inamoto did spend 6 years in England before finding his way back home via stints in Turkey, Germany and France.

Miyachi will be hoping to have a more telling impact on the Premier League than his predecessor, and interestingly comes with no club football before him, joining straight from the Japanese High School Soccer system.

Miyachi is currently studying at Chukyodai Chuyko High School, and will be participating in the All Japan High School Soccer Tournament before moving to England to join his new teammates.

Arsene Wenger expressed his delight at capturing the signature of the youngster, announcing on Arsenal.com, "Ryo will be joining us in the New Year. He trialled with us in the summer and has raw ability which has attracted many clubs around the world. I look forward to helping him fulfil his potential here at Arsenal.” (thesportscampus)
