Fàbregas rescues Arsenal but City held

Soccer Extreme : Arsenal FC needed a late Cesc Fàbregas penalty to beat Huddersfield Town FC in the FA Cup fourth round, but Manchester City FC were held 1-1 by fellow third tier side Notts County FC.

Arsenal FC reached the FA Cup fourth round thanks to a late Cesc Fàbregas penalty against third-tier side Huddersfield Town FC.

Arsenal went in front through a Peter Clarke own goal midway through the first half but were pegged back by Alan Lee's 66th-minute equaliser, after Sébastien Squillaci had been shown red for the hosts just before the interval. Captain Fàbregas came off the bench and subsequently dispatched the winner from the spot with four minutes remaining.

North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur FC – depleted by the early dismissal of Michael Dawson – lost 4-0 to Fulham FC, with Danny Murphy scoring two penalties of his own. Harry Redknapp's side were not the only Premier League outfit to struggle, with Manchester City FC held 1-1 at Notts County FC of the third division. Edin Džeko bundled in an equaliser with ten minutes left to register his first goal for the club.

Elsewhere, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC missed a late penalty in a 1-0 home loss to Stoke City FC and West Ham United FC beat Nottingham Forest FC 3-2. (UEFA)
