Celtic axe top earner

Thomas Gravesen has today left Scottish champions Celtic after a two year spell at the club. The Danish midfielder had fallen out of favour with Hoops boss Gordan Strachan and in turn struggled for a place in the first team.

The former Real Madrid midfielder spent much of last season on loan with Everton, the club he made over 150 appearances for. It is not yet known where the 32-year old will decide to go next but he has left Celtic with his best wishes.

"Celtic, Thomas Gravesen and Thomas's representatives have agreed that he will part company with the club," a statement read on Celtic's website. "Thomas wishes Celtic every success and, likewise, the club wishes Thomas all the very best for the future."

This news comes as no surprise to me and indeed I am sure every Celtic fan was waiting for this day. I feel this can only be good for Celtic because they now have one of their top earners off the wage bill and who knows this could lead Strachan into going out and buying a new midfielder.
