United enter market for Madrid striker

Newcastle United are ready to try their luck in bringing Real Madrid striker Javier Saviola to St James' Park. The former Barcelona star has fallen out of favour at the Bernabeu and is keen to leave the club this summer, with Kevin Keegan ready to give him that opportunity. (News of the World)

The Argentine international only joined the Spanish giants last year, after spending a year at arch rivals Barcelona. The 26-year old is way down the pecking order at the club with Raul, Robinho, Van Nistelrooy and Higuian all ahead of him in the striking department.

I would personally love to see Saviola come to the Premier League. He is a quality striker who has scored goals wherever he has been and I feel would be a quality addition to the Newcastle ranks. I do however think he will opt to stay in Spain if indeed an offer does come in from another La Liga side.
